A team of volunteers scrambled to hand out more than 500 Thanksgiving dinner boxes — including turkey and all the trimmings — to families in need at Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita on Sunday, Nov. 22.
The “Give A Turkey” event benefited households that had been identified — by William S. Hart Union High School District staff, social workers, community partners and representatives from local churches — as folks in need during this challenging year.
The coronavirus pandemic has jolted the San Fernando Valley and surrounding communities severely, with 10 of the hardest-hit communities in Log Angeles County falling in the area’s footprint.
