His father, Dell Curry, believes his son’s dominance on the court comes down to a simple reason.

Before the 2020-21 season, the expectation around the Warriors centered on a bounce-back campaign for Stephen Curry.

The two-time league MVP has lived up to those lofty expectations playing some of the best basketball of his career. Curry is putting forth another MVP-caliber season that in many ways mirrors his dominance from his last MVP-winning campaign.

The 32-year-old is currently third with 29.9 points per contest while shooting 48.6% from the floor and 42.3% from 3-point range, along with 6.2 assists and 5.4 rebounds. Through the first 30 games of the season, Curry has notched the second-most points scored over that span in any campaign of his career.

His 151 made 3-pointers are also the highest total through that stretch to begin a season. Meanwhile, he has become the first guard since Michael Jordan to score at least 25 points while shooting 50% or better in 10 straight games.

Curry has been on a scoring spree this year as he has scored 20 or more points in 26 games, 30 or more 14 times, 40 or more in three instances, at least 50 points twice, and notched a career-high 62 points.

Stephen Curry has swiftly put himself back on the map as one of the game’s top talents.

The seven-time All-Star has proven again why he remains must-see TV each time he takes the court. All that has come to no shock for his father, Dell Curry, who recently told Anthony Slater of The Athletic that his son’s stellar play is due to his refreshed body.

“The time he had off to not only rest his body but refresh his mind,” Dell said. “He played a lot of basketball the last five years. High-intensity basketball. So any time you can refresh your mind and get that hunger back — from being injured, not making the playoffs, not going to the bubble — you regain that hunger. All of that combined is why he has good energy, playing like he is.”

Curry is coming off the longest stretch of his career where he didn’t have an extended season due to the playoffs. For the first time since 2013, he didn’t reach the postseason, while he played in only five games last year due to a wrist injury and the COVID-19 pandemic.
