Moore—who shares sons Gus, 4, Oscar, 1, and daughter Louise, 10 months, with husband Taylor Goldsmith—was renovating their home when the devastating Eaton Fire broke out on January 7. It wasn’t fully contained until January 31, after burning over 1,000 structures and displacing more than 80,000 residents. Interior designer Emily Farnham had recently completed work on their kitchen in December, just weeks before the fire hit.

Mandy Shared the Aftermath: “It’s Not Livable but Mostly Intact”

Moore gave her followers a glimpse into the damage shortly after the blaze began. In a January Instagram post, she wrote: “The main part of our house is still standing for now. It’s not livable but mostly intact. We lost Taylor and Griffin’s studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they’ve ever owned. We lost our garage and back house.”

One month later, the picture became even more heartbreaking.

“We found out this week that while our house is still standing, because of the proximity to the fires/ burning structures (around us on all sides), the contents of our home are a near total loss,” she shared. “Clothes, furniture, pretty much everything will have to be disposed of… maybe even the walls too.”

“Thank Goodness”: Structure Saved, But Loss Was Deep

Chrissy Metz confirmed that much of the home’s structure could be salvaged, but acknowledged how “jarring” the experience was for Moore. “Thank goodness. A lot of the structure was able to be salvaged, which is great… but it’s so jarring. It’s just frightening because there’s nothing you can do but hopefully get out of there,” Metz said.

Mandy Moore Looks Ahead to Rebuilding Home & Life

Despite the emotional toll, Mandy is ready to move forward. In March, she shared a hopeful update on Instagram, featuring a throwback photo of her guest house kitchen, designed by Sarah Sherman Samuel. “I miss this space and our home and Altadena immensely, so I’m looking forward to rebuilding version 2.0,” she wrote, tagging her design and architecture team.

Despite the devastating loss, Mandy Moore and her family are choosing to focus on healing and rebuilding. Surrounded by support and grounded in gratitude, the actress is embracing this new chapter with resilience. This proves only one thing: even after the ashes, there’s always room to grow.
