British girl, 3, dies after being pulled unconscious from hotel pool in Greece

A three-year-old British girl who fell into a hotel pool in Greece after her uncle allegedly left her alone for ten minutes, has died.
The youngster, named only as Matilda, was on holiday with her family in Lardos, on Rhodes, when she was discovered unconscious at the bottom of the pool.
She spent several days in hospitals in Rhodes and Crete, where she was in a critical condition, before being transferred to a hospital in England.
There she sadly died on Sunday, October 26.
Doctors had told the family in the first few days of treatment that the brain injury she had suffered was irreversible.

According to local media reports, CCTV footage showed the girl had beenin the water for at least ten minutes and had been hidden from view by inflatable balls.
A British doctor staying at the same hotel is said to have given her CPR.
Her 44-year-old uncle and a 54-year-old manager of a travel agency responsible for the hotel’s guests have since been arrested by police.
They are now facing charges over the child’s death, along with the 57-year-old hotel owner and the hotel’s director.
An on-site investigation found that safety measures at the hotel were minimal, with no lifeguard on duty, no rescue equipment at the specific pool and no designated supervisor present, according to reports.
