Woman in her 30s dies after being stabbed in the neck in Birmingham

Several forensic tents were erected close to a bus stop. Two small silver tents and a large blue evidential tent were placed on the pavement around a small cordon that closed the road off. Two police officers remained at the scene throughout the night. A 34-year-old woman who was stabbed in an ‘unprovoked’ attack in Birmingham City Centre has died of her injuries.

It comes ahead of suspect Djeison Rafael, 21, appearing in court today.

He is facing charges of attempted murder, which will likely be changed to murder.

The victim was in a critical condition before dying of her injuries today.

West Midlands Police said Rafael is also charged with two further assaults and possession of a blade.

The stabbing happened outside of Boots, and is the third to have taken place in a month in the area.

The force said: ‘Extra officers will be around Birmingham city centre to offer reassurance as we understand this is a worrying incident.’

‘We are still keen to hear from anyone who knows more about what happened or the movements of Rafael, who we believe was wearing an all-grey tracksuit, black hat, trainers and rucksack on Friday evening (7 November).’
