A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman has spoken about her husband’s medical emergency during the latest episode of her renovation show, which saw him tell Channel 4 cameras he had suffered a heart attack.

The TV presenter and her husband Jon Boast, 45, had been filming for their property show Jasmine Harman’s Renovation In The Sun, in which the pair transformed a run-down 1980s villa in Spain into a new home for their family.

But while working with the builders in Estepona, Boast suffered persistent chest pains and the paramedics were subsequently called to take him to the hospital.

Speaking to the cameras in the Channel 4 episode, Harman, 50, said she had feared it might be a heart attack.

Her sister-in-law Jo died suddenly at the age of 40 in 2016, from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome, caused by cardiac arrest.

The presenter suffered further heartbreak in 2024, when her friend and fellow A Place In The Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin died aged 50 after a cancer diagnosis.

Boast spoke to the Channel 4 cameras from his hospital bed later in the episode and shared that he had suffered a ‘mild’ heart attack while working on the Spanish home.

Harman – who relocated to Spain with her husband and their two children, Albion and Joy, last year – has now spoken about the health scare and confirmed her husband is ‘fine now’.

She told The Mirror: ‘With Jon’s family history, he’d already been having regular screenings. Now they are doing more investigations and keeping an eye on him. He’s on medication and they will continue to do regular monitoring.

‘I know this sounds strange but even with the background of what could have happened and worrying he could have died.

‘It makes you feel lucky he just had a mild heart attack and everything is fine.

‘The challenges life throws at you have made me take things in my stride a lot better than I used to.’

His heart attack came shortly after he had broken his left leg playing padel and then developed thrombosis in the aftermath of the injury.

Harman told the publication that with the two health issues combined, she’s not sure looking back how she managed it all.

Having spoken about the struggles the couple faced during the renovation project, in part because of her husband’s sudden health issues, she said the experience made her less of a ‘control freak’ and taught her not to sweat the small stuff.

Jasmine Harman’s Renovation In The Sun continues weekdays at 5pm on Channel 4. The episodes are also available to stream on Channel 4.
