I’m A Celebrity fans praise ‘best decision ever made’ after major show shake-up

After two decades of certain stars being tormented by the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here Bushtucker Trials, ITV has confirmed a major change for 2025.

Gone are the days when voters mercilessly target one campmate to endure nature’s toughest challenges one after the other, as the new season of the hit reality series starts up with one crucial difference.

Show bosses have confirmed that ‘after a celebrity has been voted for TWO trials in a row, they cannot be voted for one on the next day.’

The change has been made in the hopes that ‘more campmates will have an opportunity to step up and play their part, with viewers getting a chance to get to know them more, it’s their chance to shine.’

Adding that the responsibility to win food in the jungle will also be more evenly spread as a result.

Forcing certain jungle inhabitants to do trials consecutively for days on end has been a quintessential part of the audience interaction experience on the show for several years – so this is a big shift.

But, for the most part, it seems the decision is being widely celebrated by viewers tired of the same old tactics and watching just one celeb eat different insects the whole time.

‘The best decision they’ve made to be honest, the same people doing the trials gets hella boring,’ X user ___nicola___ wrote.

‘I’m acc a fan of this cuz it just got so boring watching the designated person do everything each year,’ eassenders shared.

‘FINALLY!!! love a bit of suffering when people are annoying but it gets so boring after a while,’ _tpwk_28 echoed.

‘Wanted to rip my hair out watching Dean [McCullough] doing the bush tucker trials pretty much every episode last series,’ tomb337 declared.

‘This change is absolutely needed! Wanted this for ages,’ Olly_Michael96 echoed.

‘About time they introduced this change. This should improve the show immensely,’ Whopottervian agreed.

‘Happy with this decision because it means more celebs get a chance to do the trials! This is a good thing, because it got low-key frustrating and boring seeing the same person every night do them all,’ danaturney1 posted.

‘This is what we all wanted!!! And am just so happy they listened,’ DanielLUFC98 celebrated.

Not everyone was totally delighted with the turn of events, however.

‘The game, as we know it, is well and truly gone,’ yelittlejedi lamented.

‘That was the best part. Game has completely gone,’ Sean_FootyMad pushed back.

‘What do you mean I can no longer vote for the dramatic ones who are hilarious to watch doing the trials because they constantly “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here”,’ 1989Sugwell wondered.

Last year, BBC radio host Dean fell victim to the relentless voting technique, in total being forced to do seven consecutive trials before his eventual elimination.

Over the years, stars like 2016’s Adam Thomas ended up doing a whopping 16 and, that same year, Gogglebox’s Scarlett Moffat did 10.

Famously, 2010 contestant Gillian McKeith even fainted before going into her seventh consecutive trial, which she has maintained was a real reaction.

She has, however, spoken about how ‘horrendous’ the relentless tasks were and her attempts to get out of it.

‘“You have access to a psychiatrist at all times and I went to speak to them at one point to ascertain how many more trials I would be doing.

‘I tried everything to get out of these trials. I tried telling them I was pregnant and they didn’t believe me.

‘I said, “I do actually believe I am pregnant and we really must take this seriously”,’ she jokingly recalled to The Sun.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here starts on ITV at 9pm on Sunday, November 16.
