The Detroit Lions are still riding high on their win over Washington Commanders Sunday, November 9, where the team pulled off a 40-22 victory. But, now, all eyes are on this Sunday’s matchup, which will see the Lions go up against the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, in a road contest on “Sunday Night Football.”
The Eagles have a 7-2 record heading into the game and are one of the strongest teams in the NFL. The Lions are also strong, but with their 6-3 record, Detroit is an underdog in this game.
So, the Detroit Lions will have to bring their A-game against the Eagles on Sunday, November 16, especially since they’ll be playing in front of a rowdy Philadelphia audience. Anyone who knows the Eagles knows that their viewers are boisterous, and than can lead to communication issues on the field. It’s nothing the Lions haven’t handled before, though, so bring it on.
Detroit Lions Will Need a Healthy Aidan Hutchinson
If the Lions want to be in top form on Sunday, they’ll need a healthy roster, and that includes defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. While he hasn’t been a health concern this year, that changed on Wednesday, November 12, when he was included a DNP due to an elbow injury on the Lions’ practice report.
Having Hutchinson out would be a huge loss for the Lions. They need him to put pressure on, and sack, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. So, seeing Hutchinson on the injury report induces a certain level of panic.
The good news is that Hutchinson says that he’ll be playing on Sunday and that it’s a “must-win” for the Detroit Lions. The Lions are just making sure to rest him before the game. But, it’s not great knowing that he’s dealing with an elbow injury, even a small one.
So, just how important it Hutchinson to the Lions’ defense? The numbers and research speak for themselves. Hutch has compiled 18 total tackles, 17 quarterback hits, 57 pressures and 38 hurries in the 2025-26 season alone, according to NFL research. He’s also recorded seven sacks and four forced fumbles, the latter which is the highest in the NFL.
According to research from Pro Football Focus, Hutchinson has also notched a 91.2 overall grade, which puts him third in the league among 114 graded edge defenders, and a 92.3 pass-rush grade, which is second.
Detroit Lions Reveal Special Entertainment
A few weeks after the Eagles game, the Detroit Lions have announced that a Motown legend will perform during one of the team’s local games. The Temptations will serve as halftime entertainment for the Lions’ game on Sunday, December 4, at Ford Field.
“Did you hear the news? Motown’s very own The Temptations will be performing halftime of the Lions game on December 4,” the Lions said in a statement. “With their signature dance moves and unmistakable harmonies, the Temptations, signed by Motown in 1961, quickly rose to the top of the charts, forever cementing themselves in history by transforming the landscape of music before being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.”
Following the announcement, followers on X reacted. “This is what I’m ready to watch at halftime, good call Detroit,” one said. “Legends in the house,” another added. “Motown magic meets gridiron glory.”
