The synopsis reads: ‘As objections to the plans are raised, unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets begin to rise to the surface.

‘Laced with menace, The Feud reveals how Emma’s aspirational dream turns sharply into obsession, paranoia, and fear. One decision sets in motion events that have unforeseeable consequences for both her and the people living on her street.’

At the time it first aired, there were plenty of mixed reviews about the show, with some getting hooked from start to finish – even if it left something to be desired.

IMDb user mmiceli0924 wrote it was ‘bloody awful, but awfully addictive’, adding that it was ‘terrible in a good way’ for people who are looking for the kind of show you can switch your mind off to.

Another user, Sleepin_Dragon, wrote: ‘The acting was rather good, Jill Halfpenny in particular was excellent, even if Emma was absolutely loathsome, spoilt and obnoxious,’ saying that ‘Larry Lamb and Rupert Penry Jones were rather good’ as well.

‘Really enjoyed this miniseries. For anyone who has enjoyed the pleasure of a mixed bunch of neighbours this will resonate,’ barrattwest shared.

‘This cast is absolutely banging, whoever put this together deserves an award. Bravo!’ __jodie___ posted over on X.

Three British thrillers to watch after The Feud

Netflix has a treasure trove of British thrillers you can watch.

The Gathering: This Channel 4 series is about ‘a violent attack on a teenager at an illegal beach rave [which] sends shockwaves of suspicion through a Merseyside community. As secrets and lies are laid bare, will the truth emerge?’

The Replacement: The three-part show follows architect Ellen (Morven Christie) who falls pregnant. When her maternity cover, Paula (Vicky McClure) comes onto the scene – soon the life she has built for herself is threatened.

Black Work: This show follows police constable Jo Gillespie (Smith), whose life is upended when she leans her husband Ryan (Kenny Doughty), an undercover cop, has been killed under mysterious circumstances.

Although many were left unimpressed with the ‘bonkers’ finale.

‘Why do Channel 5 dramas always have nonsensical final episodes??’ Victoria Murray said.

‘It started off so well but it has turned into one of the most ridiculous series Channel 5 has ever made. The finale is beyond intelligence,’ Catherine Thomas complained.

As for critics, The Telegraph called it ‘startling in its unoriginality’ and The i paper labelled it ‘over the top and silly’.

Despite the less-than-impressed reviews, it’s clearly made an impact after securing the top spot on Netflix, so it may be one for you to make up your own mind about.

The Feud is streaming on Netflix now.
