The Buffalo Bills are entering Week 13 in desperate search of a win. After losing two of their past three games, the Bills are headed in the wrong direction when it comes to their to find their way into the postseason. Losing is clearly a big problem for this team, but injuries aren’t exactly making it easy to get back on track.
While Buffalo had a couple of extra days to get healthy for Week 13 after playing on Thursday Night Football in Week 12, the team is still going to be shorthanded when it returns to the field on Sunday. After ruling out four players on Friday, head coach Sean McDermott provided an eye-opening injury update on wide receiver Josh Palmer that will surely catch attention.
Sean McDermott Dishes on Josh Palmer’s Injury Status
Losing to the Texans in Week 12 was bad enough, as they were starting backup quarterback Davis Mills. What made this game even worse for Buffalo, though, was the fact that its players kept on suffering injuries. At least 10 players were forced out of this game at one point or another, and several of these injuries are going to linger into Week 13 and beyond.
One of those guys is Palmer, whose role suddenly looks set to expand in the wake of Elijah Moore’s release. Palmer hasn’t exactly found his footing in his first season with the Bills, as he’s caught just 18 passes for 272 yards in eight games of action. With Moore gone and several other offensive playmakers injured, though, Palmer’s presence looms quite large for this game.
Against Houston, Palmer suffered an ankle injury that has thrown his status for the team’s upcoming game up in the air. While several players were ruled out on Friday, Palmer was not one of them, and after logging a limited practice, he will be listed as questionable by the team for its Week 13 action.
“Joshua Palmer will be limited today … and listed as questionable for the game,” McDermott said when speaking to reporters on Friday.

Palmer hasn’t had the biggest role in Buffalo’s offense this season, but that could be set to change if he can get on the field on Sunday afternoon. While the team signed Brandin Cooks after his release from the New Orleans Saints, he’s still working on picking up a new offense. Palmer has a much better knowledge of the playbook, which should help him earn snaps alongside Khalil Shakier at wide receiver if he can play.
The Bills will be taking on another struggling playoff hopeful, the Pittsburgh Steelers, when they return to action. While the Steelers can’t get out of their own way, the Bills are going to need all hands on deck for this one if they want to come out on top. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon, and when all is said and done, one team will have taken a big step towards the postseason, while the other’s playoff hopes will be on life support.
