Website to provide updates on Batavia chiropractor over alleged hidden-camera recordings

The Kane County state’s attorney’s office has made a website to provide updates on its prosecution of David Hanson, weeks after the Batavia chiropractor was arrested and accused of secretly recording his patients when they were undressing and being treated.

The office said on Monday its investigators have begun identifying victims and will be contacting them soon.

It also said investigators believe Hanson acted alone and found no evidence that his family or employees were aware of his alleged criminal activity.

Hanson, owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia, was charged in early November in Kane County criminal court with multiple counts each of producing and sharing child pornography, possessing child pornography and unauthorized video recording of a minor.

Prosecutors alleged he hid cameras in his office and secretly recorded more than 180 patients, including children and adults.

The state’s attorney’s office said it has received more than 1,500 calls and emails to its tip line from potential victims.

Hanson is currently jailed and will remain in custody as his case proceeds. He is due in court in January.

Hanson’s attorney for the criminal case did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The chiropractor, his business and the owner of the building are also facing several other lawsuits.

Two children and their mother and grandmother filed a civil suit against Hanson late last month, accusing him of privacy invasion, negligence and violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

Lawyers with the Romanucci & Blandin law office, which filed the lawsuit, said additional lawsuits on behalf of other plaintiffs are expected to be filed against Hanson.
