NFL Insider Gives Strong Take on Justin Jefferson’s Vikings Future

The future of Justin Jefferson with the Minnesota Vikings is becoming a topic of discussion in the NFL media. Amid a disappointing season, the Vikings have relied on J.J. McCarthy, Carson Wentz, and Max Brosmer under center.

Of the three quarterbacks, Jefferson had brief success with Wentz before his season-ending injury. The only games in which the Vikings’ star recorded over 100 receiving yards were with Wentz under center.

After Wentz, it’s been a frustrating experience with McCarthy and now Brosmer, who went 19 of 30 on his pass attempts for 126 passing yards and threw four interceptions in the loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

During the December 1 edition of “Get Up,” ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter weighed in on the possibility of Jefferson being fed up with the Vikings’ quarterback situation and demanding a trade.

“They’re going to speak to him, I’m sure, at some point in time and get some feedback and input as to the player that he would want,” Schefter said. “It’s hard to imagine that they would trade Justin Jefferson, but then again, a year ago, I would have said it’s hard to imagine the Dallas Cowboys would have traded Micah Parsons, and they did.

“I still don’t think they’re trading Justin Jefferson. I think he’s clearly miffed, disappointed, and bewildered by the way this entire season and offseason, losing Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones is gone. But I don’t think it’s going to change as much and I don’t think they’re going to be moving off Justin Jefferson this offseason.”

The Vikings Should Be Targeting a QB This Offseason

Minnesota’s decision to back McCarthy as their starting quarterback is backfiring, as he has struggled and been unable to stay healthy this season. As a result, ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky is urging the Vikings to pursue two names to improve the position and keep Jefferson happy.

“The likeliest way that I think [the Vikings] can keep [Jefferson], at least, or make him happy is Daniel Jones or Mac Jones,” Orlovsky said on the December 1 edition of “Get Up.” “That’s really the future in Minnesota. I think they’re going to have to bring some high-end competition in for J.J. McCarthy.

“The free-agent market is not going to be great. Daniel Jones will be a free agent. Mac Jones, I believe, is under contract for San Francisco, but could he be a trade target? The draft is not going to be great, and you’re not drafting a kid to bring in with J.J. McCarthy because then there’s two unproven young players. In relation to Justin, does Mac Jones get you happy? Does Daniel Jones get you happy?”

J.J. McCarthy Looks to Be Ready for Vikings’ Week 14 Game

After missing the Seattle game due to a concussion, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell shared the latest on McCarthy as he believes the player will be ready to go for Week 14 against the Washington Commanders.

“He is, as of right now [McCarthy is in concussion protocol], but we’ll see how he does [on December 1],” O’Connell said postgame after the loss to the Seahawks. “Our goal is [that] he clears and he can have a good week of practice and have an opportunity to play next week.”
