Bluey musical comedy show coming to Disneyland

Bluey, Bingo and other characters from the wildly popular Disney+ animated television series will star in a new musical comedy show with a troupe of actors and musicians coming this spring to Disneyland.

“Bluey’s Best Day Ever” will debut March 22 in the Fantasyland Theatre at the Anaheim theme park.

“Bluey” is an Australian children’s TV series about a 6-year-old puppy named Bluey and her family, neighbors and school friends who invent elaborate games to play in each episode of the Peabody- and Emmy-winning animated show.

“Bluey’s Best Day Ever” will transform the Fantasyland Theatre into Bluey’s school where kids can enjoy a Fun Fair, play games like Keepy Uppy and wander through a life-sized Gnome Village and Fairy Garden.

A troupe of comedic actors and musicians will bring to life the music and games from “Bluey” TV episodes in a live musical show on the Fantasyland Theatre stage.

The stage shows will segue into interactive games and meet-and-greet photo ops with Bluey, Bingo, Chattermax, Unicorse, the Grannies and other characters from the animated TV show.

The nearby Troubadour Tavern counter service restaurant will offer a themed menu of specialty food and drink items inspired by the “Bluey” TV show.

Disneyland has used the Fantasyland Theatre for other similar character showcases like the Pixar Pals Playtime Party that ran in the venue through the summer. Holiday Fun with Santa and Friends took over the Fantasyland Theatre during the Christmas holiday season that runs through Jan. 7.

Disney Live Entertainment hosted a casting call in October for “Bluey’s Best Day Ever” looking for actors, singers, dancers and musicians.

The new musical comedy show will star a frazzled leader, ambitious lieutenant, playful maverick, cranky grouch and quirky problem solver, according to the Disney Auditions website.

A five-piece live band will include a guitarist, saxophonist, trombonist, trumpet player and drummer, according to the casting call.

Bluey has become one of the most popular characters in Disney’s expansive stable of intellectual properties.

“Bluey” was the most-watched streaming series in 2024 in the United States, according to Nielsen Media Research. “Bluey” reigned as the most-watched series globally on the Disney+ streaming service in 2024. Kids and their parents watched 842 million hours of “Bluey” in 2024, according to Disney.

Disney will release a “Bluey” film in theaters in 2027 that will stream on Disney+ and air on ABC.
