Los Alamitos Race Course in Cypress has canceled its Saturday night card for quarter horses and thoroughbreds amid evacuations in the area of a malfunctioning chemical storage tank in nearby Garden Grove, track officials announced.
Los Alamitos is less than four miles from GKN Aerospace, the facility where crews have been working since Friday to try to keep the overheating storage tank from exploding or cracking.
Track management said its parking lot is being utilized as a staging area by the Orange County Fire Authority and other first responders.
