Angry HGTV fans are lashing out at a prominent insurance company following the season finale of Home Town: Inn This Together.

The Home Town spinoff show followed Ben and Erin Napier as they worked alongside their friends, Jim and Mallorie Rasberry and Josh Nowell, to turn a former department store in downtown Laurel, Mississippi, into a boutique hotel, cooking school, and retail space. Sadly, just as the massive project was coming to a close, a fire tore through the restored building, completely gutting the structure.

‘Home Town: Inn This Together’: The Heirloom Hotel Isn’t Open After Devastating Fire, But You Can Help Them Rebuild

Since that August 2025 blaze, the project has been in limbo. While the team has vowed to move forward and hopefully rebuild, those efforts are on hold while they wait for a resolution from the insurance company, Liberty Mutual.

“The fire shocked everyone. It has felt like a death of a loved one in the community. It has been nearly a year since the fire, and our friends are STILL waiting on @libertymutual to complete the claim,” Erin and Ben wrote on <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DZCzEsGOvQS/?hl=en” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram.

Viewers were quick to respond. Many called out and tagged the insurer in comments on the post. And other commented directly on Liberty’s own <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DJHJJyJxF4j/?hl=en” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram posts.

“OVER A YEAR AND NO MOVEMENT ON THE HEIRLOOM. Shameful at best,” one person wrote.

“Do the right thing @theheirloom.us!” another commented.

“I would never ever never ever be your customer #the heirloom,” vowed another commenter.

Liberty Mutual has not publicly commented on The Heirloom’s insurance claim. But complex fire damage claims can takes months to resolve, notes <a href=”https://palcoclaims.com/commercial-fire-damage-claims-business-owner-guide/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>PALCO Claims, a public adjusting loss consultant based in Texas. A large scope of damage, engineering inspections, code upgrade income verification, and business income verification can all contribute to a frustratingly slow process for business owners.
