Next year, Netflix will celebrate its 30th birthday. That’s right, somehow the VOD subscription site has been around for almost three decades.

Of course, the world wasn’t streaming millions of hours’ worth of HD content in 1997. Netflix was a mail order DVD service back then. Now it’s one of the richest and most successful companies on the planet.

The streaming monster is edging close to having 350 million subscribers worldwide right now. So it stands to reason that when something does well on there, it can do really well.

Here are the top ten TV shows on Netflix from the past week…

10. Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 – 2,800,000 views last week

Given what an absolute juggernaut that Stranger Things is for Netflix, it always seemed inevitable that the show would get some spin-offs. And here we are with Tales From ’85.

It’s animated and the events take place between the second and third seasons of the actual show. It’s proving pretty popular with younger fans of The Duffer Brothers’ hit. Critics are split, but the general feeling is that it works.

The creators said they were aiming for a ‘Saturday morning kids TV’ vibe and they’ve definiely hit that.

9. Salish & Jordan Matter – 2,900,000 views last week

The conversion from popular YouTuber to TV star is often a bumpy one. The formats can clash and what works online doesn’t always translate to slightly larger screens in people’s living rooms.

Father-and-daughter duo Salish and Jordan Matter are a big deal online. Their YouTube channel has an astonishing 35 million subscribers.

Does their move to Netflix work? Well, fans might argue it does. As for critics and people unfamiliar with the pair? Their somewhat cloying nature can be a bit of a hard sell.

7-. Fake Profile: Season 3 – 3,000,000 views last week

We’re now onto the third series of this steamy Colombian drama which first landed back in May of 2023. The show’s unlikely to win many Emmys, but stars Carolina Miranda and Rodolfo Salas are committed and it’s got its own loyal audience.

If you’re into soapy, throwaway fun, this Spanish-language might well be for you. There’s always something happening, whether it’s love or murder. Well, there was always something happening, anyway. This third run is set to be Fake Profile’s last.

7-. Hulk Hogan: Real American – 3,000,000 views last week

‘Whatcha gonna do, when the yellow vest runs tight on you, brother?!’ (Picture: Netflix)

The world’s biggest ever wrestling star, Hulk Hogan, epitomised the American approach to life in the 1980s and 90s. Brash, bold, loud and patriotic, he was larger than life. If not larger than Andre the Giant.

His career was fascinating. His personal life – something of a car crash. This revealing docu-series pulls no punches in telling the world all about what happened when Hulk stepped outside of the squared circle.

6. Raw: 2026 – April 20 – 3,300,000 views last week

Last week’s Raw reset the board a little after the manic events of WrestleMania. Roman Reigns showed up as World Heavyweight Champion and was immediately confronted by Jacob Fatu, setting up a new Bloodline clash, while Bron Breakker went straight after Seth Rollins and Ethan Page arrived on the scene.

The matches were, as they so often are, somewhat secondary. That said – Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky beat the Kabuki Warriors, Liv Morgan got past Sol Ruca, Finn Bálor beat JD McDonagh and Page won on debut after Je’Von Evans had already been taken out by Rusev.

If you follow WWE, that’ll have made sense. If not, well, you probably skipped this section, didn’t you? Hello? Nope – you’ve gone.

4-. BEEF: Season 2 – 4,100,000 views last week

Three years ago, Beef was a huge hit for Netflix. Ali Wong and Steven Leung starred in the black comedy’s debut run about two people that clash horribly after a car accident. It was loved by critics and viewers alike.

This year, Beef’s second series is proving a fairly big hit for Netflix. Carey Mulligan and Oscar Isaac star in the black comedy’s sophomore run about two couples that get into a big feud. It’s quite liked by viewers, but dismissed as a pale imitation of the first series by critics.

4-. Ronaldinho: The One and Only – 4,100,000 views last week

Ronaldinho: Sublime footballer, terrible chooser of trousers (Picture: Netflix)

Ask any football fan to name the best five – or even ten – players ever and very few will mention Ronaldinho. Despite an illustrious career full of titles and World Cups, there was always a slight feeling that the incredibly talented and skilful Brazilian never quite achieved his potential. Such was his immense and unique ability.

This three-part Portuguese language documentary is a breezy look at the life and career of the carefree playboy and his iconic status.

3. Sold Out on You – 4,700,000 views last week

In third place in this week’s most-watched TV show on Netflix is another South Korean romance. This time with a comedic vibe. Ahn Hyo-seop and Chae Won-bin star as two workaholics whose lives intertwine in a series of ways that viewers familiar with Hallmark movies might recognise.

It’s not supposed to be a grand sweeping tale or anything, more of a nice little watch. And, at only three episodes long, it won’t take you all that long to do so, either.

2. Running Point: Season 2 – 5,300,000 views last week

Season two of Running Point is proving just as popular as the first, with Kate Hudson back as Isla Gordon, still trying to prove she’s the right person to run the LA Waves basketball outfit. This time, it’s less about settling in and more about holding everything together as her brother Cam reappears, stirring up trouble behind the scenes.

There’s a sharper mix of boardroom politics, locker-room egos and family dysfunction this time around. Plus a push towards a championship run. New faces like Ray Romano’s awkward coach add to the chaos, while Isla juggles romance, rivalries and outright sabotage.

1. Unchosen – 10,400,000 views last week

‘I’m afraid that God prefers people to keep their shirts on for this part, for some reason He’s never quite made clear’ (Picture: Netflix)

Unchosen gives the BAFTA-winning Molly Windsor plenty to get stuck into as Rosie, a young woman who drifts into a tight-knit group that quickly stops feeling quite so friendly. What begins as a bit of comfort and belonging soon turns claustrophobic, with odd rules, power plays and a constant sense that something isn’t quite right.

It leans fully into cult territory, with control, manipulation and loyalty tests creeping in as Rosie starts to see the truth. Windsor keeps it grounded, while Asa Butterfield adds a more uncertain, watchful presence inside the group, never quite as straightforward as he seems.

It’s tense, a bit unsettling and very much the most watched TV show on Netflix last week.
