The Tony Awards aren’t going to miss their shot at celebrating the megahit musical “Hamilton!”
“Hamilton’s” original cast will perform on the Tony Awards coming up Sunday, June 8 to celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary.
Stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom, Jr., Philippa Soo, Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Christopher Jackson, Jasmine Cephas Jones and Okieriete Onaodowan will reprise the roles that earned the show a record-breaking 16 Tony nominations in 2016.
Miranda and fellow castmates took home 11 awards that year.
And that’s not all. According to a press release from Paramount + and CBS Entertainment, the show went on to receive a Grammy, an Olivier Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
It also garnered an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.
And its original Broadway cast recording became the first in history to be certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America.
2025 Tonys Feature Epic Performances
And “Hamilton” won’t be the only one stealing the show during the Tonys.
According to a press release, th e 78th annual awards will feature performances from the casts of some of this seasonâs most celebrated new musicals and revivals including: âBuena Vista Social Club,â âDead Outlaw,â âDeath Becomes Her,â âFloyd Collins,â âGypsy,â âMaybe Happy Ending,â âOperation Mincemeat: A New Musical,â âPirates! The Penzance Musical,â âSunset Blvd.,â âJust in Timeâ and âReal Women Have Curves,â along with a special appearance by the 2019 Tony Honor Recipient, Broadway Inspirational Voices.
âDeath Becomes Her,: âMaybe Happy Endingâ and âBuena Vista Social Clubâ each racked up ten nominations this year.
Tony Host Cynthia Erivo Will Bring Wicked Energy to the Stage
This year’s Tonys are being hosted by “Wicked” superstar Cynthia Erivo at Radio City Music Hall.
In a press release, Erivo said, “âI am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honor. I am looking forward to ushering the theater community at large through a night that celebrates the wonderful performances we have witnessed throughout the year. I hope I can rise to the occasion.â
