Model Ekaterina Blinova is fighting for her life following a devastating motorbike crash in Phuket, Thailand, that left her with severe injuries.
Sun reported that the 29-year-old was involved in a collision with a car while riding her motorbike on the island. The impact left her with a broken leg and serious head trauma.
âLife-Threateningâ Injuries Leave Her in Coma
Blinova remains in a medically induced coma and is being treated in intensive care, with her condition described as critical.
âShe suffered a severe traumatic brain injury with brain bleeding and displacement,â her cousin Yana Andreeva said.
âShe underwent emergency surgery the same day to save her life.
âRight now, she is in critical condition in the intensive care unit and in a coma.â
Doctors are closely monitoring her condition, with loved ones fearing her recovery could be a long and uncertain process.
According to a plea shared by her cousin on Instagram, Blinova remains in extremely critical condition following the crash.
âOur dear Katya has been in a serious motorbike accident.
She has suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and a brain hemorrhage with displacement. She has already undergone emergency surgery to save her life. Right now, she is in intensive care in extremely critical condition â her pulse is 56, and there is no brain response.
At this moment, confirmed medical bills total around 250,000 baht for just the first day â and this is only the beginning.
Each day in the hospital brings new costs: intensive care, life-support equipment, and treatment.
ð The minimum amount urgently needed right now is 500,000 baht.”
If Katya regains consciousness, she will need at least one more surgery on her leg, surgery to remove a blood clot in her abdomen, as well as continued treatment and long-term rehabilitation.â
Family and Friends Rally Support Amid Rising Medical Costs
Sun reports that Blinova, a Russian model and English teacher who moved to Phuket last year, did not have health insurance at the time of the accident.
Her initial surgery has already cost £6,500, with daily hospital expenses reaching approximately £1,200.
Friends and family have since launched efforts to raise funds for her treatment and recovery.
âIf she regains consciousness, she will need at least one more surgery on her leg, surgery to remove a blood clot in her abdomen, and long-term treatment and rehabilitation,â a family member shared.
Mother Rushes to Be by Her Side as Recovery Remains Uncertain
Her mother, Tatiana Mosentseva, a doctor based in Russia, is traveling to Thailand to be by her daughterâs side during this critical time.
âIâm flying to be with my daughter. I donât know any details. Iâm still in shock.â
The family had hoped to transfer Blinova to Russia for further treatment, but her current condition has made travel impossible.
âThis tragic case shows the importance of proper medical insurance for foreigners,â a Thai tourism spokesperson said, as per Sun.
As Blinova remains in intensive care, her loved ones are holding on to hope, facing each day with uncertainty and quiet strength.
