Season 3 of And Just Like That… is set to premiere in June. While waiting for the reboot’s return, we couldn’t help but go back to the series that started it all. While Sex and the City focused on four friends as they navigated life and love in New York City, we couldn’t help but notice just how vibrant the backstories of some of the side characters were. We think these three short-lived Sex and the City characters could carry a spinoff.

What would happen if Carrie Bradshaw took a more “professional” approach to her love life? While most fans probably can’t picture it, we think her life would look a lot like Amalita Amalfi’s. Amalita appeared in season 1 of Sex and the City as a professional girlfriend. While we only get to see her once, her bubbly personality, nononsense approach to relationships, and jetsetting ways still intrigue us. A spinoff all about her life as a professional girlfriend would have fit on HBO rather nicely.

<a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.vogue.com/article/amalita-sex-and-the-city-carole-raphaelle-davis” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Vogue caught up with Carole Raphaelle Davis, the actor who portrayed Amalita in the original series. Davis said she enjoyed the role and is still being contacted by people, hoping she’ll reprise the role at some point. Davis is open to the idea, recalling Amalita as “very social and very fun-loving.” Still, she says no one from the reboot has approached her about it. We think that’s a mistake. Amalita, as a citizen of the world, could absolutely carry a Sex and the City spinoff.

We would have loved to learn more about Barbara’s post-Big life in a ‘Sex and the City’ spinoff

Everyone remembers Mr. Big’s second ex-wife, Natasha Naginsky. She factored heavily into seasons two and three of the beloved series. She even returned for And Just Like That.. While we think Natasha is an interesting character, Mr. Big’s first ex-wife could carry a Sex and the City spinoff.

Mr. Big’s first ex, Barbara, was featured in a single episode. Carrie tracked her down to learn more about her relationship with Big after she grew insecure about his sexual exploits. While Carrie didn’t learn anything particularly positive about Mr. Big, we learned that Barbara worked for a children’s book publisher and ended her marriage when Big cheated on her with her friend. Barbara was soft-spoken, warm, and a little bit spunky. A spinoff about her adventures in publishing and her complicated relationship with her big ex could have worked.

Enid Frick deserves her own show

Enid Frick served as the editor of Vogue who was neither impressed nor amused by Carrie Bradshaw’s sex column or the book that followed. While Enid was cold and pretty calculated initially, she did show warmth and sadness in her later appearances that we don’t think we explored enough during the original series. A Sex and the City spinoff that documented Enid’s rise to power and the things she had to sacrifice to get there, like love, could be compelling.

<iframe title=”SATC | Season 4 | Episode 17 | Carrie at Vogue Office” width=”925″ height=”694″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/5NMtn4o6f84?start=28&feature=oembed” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share” referrerpolicy=”strict-origin-when-cross-origin” allowfullscreen>

While we’d love a spinoff that focused on Enid as a younger woman, Candice Bergen, the actor who took on the role, would be a great narrator. If a spinoff were to happen, we could see this one landing on Max.
