Taylor Swift married the ‘boy on the football team’ this weekend at Madison Square Garde in front of 1,000 (yep, you read that right) of their ‘closest’ family and friends.
The pop icon and her new hubby, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, shut down New York City on one of the busiest days of the year and transformed the stadium — where Taylor has performed eight times over her 20-year career — into a real-life fairytale.
This included white bannisters believed to be part of a massive medieval castle, giant trees, a red carpet, and custom monogrammed pieces including their now-iconic wedding logo: two interlocking Ts carved into cream woodwork.
According to a TMZ source, the elaborate affair, which is believed to have cost the pair over $20 million, was compared to ‘Alice in Wonderland meets The Wizard of Oz.’
Alongside the exclusive venue, Taylor and Travis’s guest list featured some of the biggest names in Hollywood and beyond, from Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Sabrina Carpenter and JLo.
The couple also booked performances by legendary musicians Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney, while comic Adam Sandler officiated the wedding.
Bottom line? As far as celebrity weddings go, Taylor and Travis’ nuptials received as much attention (if not more) than royal weddings.
And, while many called it controversial and branded the newlyweds ‘out of touch,’ there’s no denying it was a defining moment in 21st-century pop culture.
But as for Adam Sandler’s role in the power couple’s big day, Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has revealed the sweet marriage advice the Happy Gilmore star bestowed upon them.
Adam, who has been married to his wife and fellow actor Jackie Sandler since 2003, reportedly told Taylor and Travis the secret to maintaining the spark is to ‘keep kissing.’
Andy said at a Salt Lake City event on July 5: ‘He told them to keep kissing. So, in its simplest form, that’s a good thing.’
‘It’s hard to argue when you give your wife a kiss or your wife gives you a kiss,’ he continued.
‘Make sure you do it every day, every minute that you have an opportunity to do it. Knock it out, and you won’t have problems.’
Finally, Andy said that Adam’s speech was ‘simple,’ ‘hysterical,’ and ‘phenomenal.’
‘He’s crazy, but he did a great job in getting them married with a lot of humour.’
Both Taylor and Travis have their own relationship with the Grown Ups star. While Adam and Jackie’s kids, Sadie and Sunny, have been lifelong Swifties, Travis was most recently cast in the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2.
Travis famously bagged his cameo — in which he played an antagonistic waiter at a country club restaurant — by publicly expressing his desire to be in the film.
The 36-year-old said he would gladly be an extra, just anything to get around Happy Gilmore and an Adam Sandler film or set.
During press for the movie, Adam told an interviewer that he saw Travis on Saturday Night Live and thought he was ‘unbelievably funny and confident.’
Then, after hearing that Travis wanted to be involved in the film, Adam revealed they wrote a part for him and he was ‘cool enough to say yes.’
Meanwhile, Adam appeared on a 2024 episode of Travis’ podcast New Heights, which he co-hosts with his former footballer brother, Jason Kelce. At the time, Taylor and Travis had only been dating for around a year.
While chatting to the brothers, Adam gushed how Taylor ‘means so much to our house,’ going on to champion the then-new relationship.
He said at the time: ‘When you guys first started dating, my family was like, “Yes. Look how good they are together. He’s a gentleman and she’s having so much fun.”‘
Adam also noted how Taylor’s music has been an integral part of his daughters’ lives. He revealed that every album she drops, he and his family never skip a track.
‘Taylor in our house, every tune, they knew every word. I loved listening to her in the car.
‘I love what she had to say, every message, every melody, just the production, how cool she was, what she meant to young girls, what she means to women, what she means to guys doing the right thing in life.’
Following Taylor and Travis’ wedding, plenty of celebs have shared their looks on Instagram and opened up about how incredible the day was.
And though we’re yet to see official photos of the bride and groom, it’s been confirmed that their ceremony looks were created by Christian Dior Haute Couture.
Meanwhile, a statement read that ‘their shoes were custom-made by Christian Louboutin and the bride wore Cartier jewellery’ — a brand that Taylor famously loves.
