Adele has been spotted supporting another huge female singer in her first public appearance in months.
The 37-year-old British singer has done her best to stay out of the spotlight since her rise to fame following the release of her debut album 19 in 2008.
In the years since she’s become one of the world’s best-selling musicians and has won a jaw-dropping 16 Grammy Awards.
However, she’s previously said that she ‘hates’ being famous, and ‘misses being anonymous’.
But this week she attended a Dua Lipa concert, with fans delighted to see her having what looked like a lively night out.
Videos circulating on social media show Adele singing and dancing along to Dua’s song Don’t Start Now during the fellow British singer’s Los Angeles show.
Dua, 30, is currently on her Radical Optimism Tour, where she’s performing five shows in the city of Inglewood, part of LA, this week.
Standing in what appears to be a VIP area, the star was filmed belting out the lyrics to Dua’s tracks, and jumping up and down dancing, before later clapping and then encouraging those around her, including the tech crew, to bust a move.
Her enthusiasm was contagious, with many fans loving how hyped she seemed.
‘Adele vibing to Dua like that is such an iconic crossover honestly,’ user Manjulika posted on X.
‘Adele vibing to Dua? That’s real British excellence,’ Hafiz commented.
‘So good to see her enjoying life,’ the fan page AdeleWorld shared.
‘Two queens supporting each other. Love seeing artists genuinely enjoy other artists’ work,’ Snehal added.
Last year Dua spoke about how Adele had reached out and offered her support and words of advice ahead of her slot headlining Glastonbury 2024.
‘She said, “I’ve been thinking about you all day and just wanted to wish you luck for tonight. Don’t forget to soak it all in,” she recalled to Billboard.
Speaking about her love for the singer, she added: ‘I loved meeting her so much. I’ve always been such a big fan of hers, and getting to chat with her a little bit was just really sweet.’
Meanwhile in 2023 Adele hailed Dua as ‘the next big pop girl’.
After watching the video of Adele at Dua’s gig, many fans expressed their relief she was ‘alive’, after not being seen in public since April.
Adele’s last performance was in November last year, when she wrapped up her Las Vegas residency after two years,
Breaking down in teas speaking to the audience, she admitted that she ‘didn’t know’ when they can expect to see her back on stage.
Three months earlier, she’s tearfully told fans at a concert in Munich: ‘I will not see you for an incredibly long time. I just need a rest, I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.’
In the past Adele has taken breaks, previously not making music for five years following the release of her third album, 25.
Last year she also revealed she wanted to have a ‘baby girl’ with fiancé Rich Paul, a sports agent who she was seen courtside with at a Los Angeles Lakers game with in April.
She was previously married to Simon Konecki, with whom she shares son Angelo.
Soon after the end of her residency last year, Adele detailed her plans to take a ‘big break’.
While fans may have been hopeful that the end of her residency may have signalled the singer to get back to the studio to create her next album, the singer had some disappointing news for fans.
‘I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,’ she told German magazine ZDF.
‘I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.’
Her last album 30 was released in 2021.
In the same interview, the star also admitted her struggles with being in the public eye.
‘I miss everything about before I was famous, I think probably being anonymous the most,’ she confessed.
‘I don’t like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time whenever I want and people are receptive to it and like it, because that’s pretty unimaginable…that never happens to people.’
She added: ‘But, the fame side of it, I absolutely hate, and I miss everything about before all of this had happened. The fact that people are even interested in my voice and my songs is pretty wild, I don’t think it ever gets normal, you know? So, it’s worth it… (it’s just finding) the balance.’
