Adele Spotted in Rare Public Outing Amid ‘Hiatus’ From Music

You may hope to see Adele show up at a music festival or local concert, but don’t hold your breath. After deciding to take an indefinite music break, Adele is rarely seen in public. However, there is one location, it seems, where you can usually catch a glimpse of the songstress: NBA games. She and her beau, Rich Paul, are both avid basketball fans. The two are often sitting courtside, watching their favorite teams play.

She and Fiancé Rich Paul Stepped Out for a Basketball Date Night

Adele and Rich Paul attended the Crypto.com Arena on April 19, where they watched the Los Angeles Lakers play the Minnesota Timberwolves. Paul, dressed in a black shirt and white ball cap, watched the game with a serious, intent expression.

Adele was dressed in a grey dress shirt and matching pants. Lebron James and company lost by 22 points to the Timberwolves. Both seemed to be in good spirits, and Adele couldn’t hide a smile most of the game.

Adele is a big basketball fan and has often displayed her keen interest in the sport during her concerts. During one show, she expressed her excitement at the Timberwolves’ success and her annoyance with the Dallas Mavericks. But if you’re wondering who her favorite team is, she’s not telling.

“I don’t have a specific team, I’m also not allowed to have a specific team,” she told the crowd. “Because my partner is an agent and looks after many different people who play for many different teams.”

Adele Previously Spoke About Wanting to Begin Her ‘New Life’

Adele first announced her intention to take a long break from music in September 2024. When she spoke to the crowd during her residency in Germany, she implied she had no plans to return to music. “I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break,” she said.

“I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now,” she added. “I want to live my new life that I’ve been building.” Paul, with whom she’s been involved since 2021, is clearly a part of that new life.

The 36-year-old “Someone Like You’ singer has been vocal about her desire to have a child with Paul. Adele told the crowd at one of her Las Vegas shows about her hopes, which a fan recorded.

“I want a girl because I’ve already got a boy,” referring to her 11-year-old son, Angelo. “I feel like she might be like the person I love the most in the world, but also prob- ably hate the most in the world — that is what I feel will happen. She’s going to put me in my place all the time, isn’t she?”

Adele hasn’t performed live since she finished her Las Vegas “Weekends With Adele” residency in November 2024.
