AEW WrestleDream is here, and there is a lot to unpack heading into the show.

Will Ospreay is ready to bring a dose of the British wrestling independent scene to Orlando this weekend as he puts his world title on the line in a Clockwork Carnage match, which has never been seen on a global scale like this (more on that below).

He’ll be joined in the match by seven challengers, including Adam Copeland, best known to WWE fans as Edge, who announced earlier this week that he will retire in 2027.

The rest of the card has a lot going on too, with six championship matches, with everyone from Mercedes Mone and Jon Moxley to The Young Bucks putting their gold on the line.

Throw in a major hint for the impending arrival of Ilja Dragunov months after his WWE exit, and there could be a lot to talk about after this show.

Here’s everything you need to know.

When is AEW All WrestleDream 2026?

AEW WrestleDream will air tomorrow night (Saturday, October 17). The main show kicks off at 1am for fans in the UK, which follows the Buy Out and Tailgate Brawl (from midnight).

What is a Clockwork Carnage match in AEW?

The Clockwork Carnage match will be familiar to fans of the UK’s all-women’s company Pro Wrestling EVE.

Created by Will Ospreay and now being brought to AEW, the eight-man bout combines aspects of a gauntlet and iron man match, not too dissimilar to WWE’s Iron Survivor Challenge. Here are the rules:

Metro’s wrestling expert Alistair McGeorge breaks down the biggest AEW news before WrestleDream

This will be the third month in a row I’ve written about Ilja Dragunov joining AEW, but now it is finally on the horizon. Really this time.

No, that doesn’t mean he’ll appear at WrestleDream, but during Dynamite on Wednesday a video package aired which all but confirmed his impending arrival.

The vignette showed a man in a suit, moving his arm in a very familiar why as music befitting the Mad Dragon could be heard as a metronome ticked.

He’s coming, and he’ll be a perfect fit for All Elite Wrestling.

Also on Dynamite, fans were reeling by Adam Copeland’s announcement that he’s retiring in 2027. We don’t know exactly when he’ll be hanging up his boots, but it’ll be an emotional moment for everyone.

As a fan of Edge since I started watching him in WWE almost 25 years ago, it’s actually heartwarming knowing he’ll finally be hanging up his boots on his terms after a devastating injury cut his career short in 2011.

He was able to return at the Royal Rumble in 2020, and the fact he is essentially on a farewell tour before his final retirement in AEW is something to be celebrated.
