<p id=”par-1_38″>Two years after Britney Spears released her memoir, <em>The Woman in Me</em>, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/why-did-britney-spears-divorce-kevin-federline.html/”>her ex-husband, Kevin Federline</a>, has his own memoir coming out, and some of the claims leveled against the singer in his book are downright alarming. </p>
<p id=”par-2_49″>K-Fed’s memoir, titled <em>You Thought You Knew</em>, doesn’t hit bookstores until Oct. 21, but some excerpts have people buzzing with plenty of Spears’ fans upset and appalled. Now, while Federline is promoting his new book and defending the timing of its release, Spears and her team are firing back.</p>

Federline was granted <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/britney-spears-team-kevin-federlines-meomir-moneygrab-pay-child-support.html/”>sole physical custody of their sons</a> in 2008, and today they live with him in Hawaii. </p>

<p id=”par-5_32″>In her book, Spears insisted that Federline “took my world away from me” during their custody battle, saying, “He knocked the breath out of me. And my family did not hold me.”</p>
<p id=”par-6_56″>In excerpts obtained by <a href=”https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/14/arts/music/britney-spears-kevin-federline-book.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The New York Times</a> from Federline’s memoir, he alleged that when their children were younger, “they would awaken sometimes at night to find [Britney] standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand. Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.” </p>
<p id=”par-7_17″>He also alleged that Spears drank wine while pregnant with their sons and used cocaine while breastfeeding.</p>
<p id=”par-8_84″>Federline claims that things have gotten to a point now where he is very concerned about the “Toxic” artist and her well-being, explaining, “The truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible. It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”</p>

<p id=”par-9_16″>Since her 13-year-long conservatorship ended, there has been speculation about Spears’ mental health and stability. </p>
<p id=”par-10_68″>An insider told <a href=”https://pagesix.com/2025/09/20/entertainment/britney-spears-is-home-alone-fragile-and-refusing-help-sources/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Page Six</a>, “Her behavior is just like you see online — she has moments of clarity and moments where it feels like a roller coaster. She’s still the sweetest, kindest person … She is a free woman, and because a judge never looked at her medical history when they freed her from this conservatorship, we’re seeing what this looks like in the public eye right now.” </p>

<p id=”par-11_33″>Federline also gave his opinion on the “Free Britney” movement, which focused on helping free the “Oops!…I Did It Again” artist from her conservatorship, insisting that it was more harmful than fans realize.</p>
<p id=”par-12_29″>“Now, more than ever, [our children] need your support. I’ve been their buffer for years, but now it’s bigger than me,” he wrote. “It’s time to sound the alarm.”</p>
<p id=”par-13_70″>A representative for Spears shared a response with <a href=”https://people.com/britney-spears-hits-back-at-kevin-federline-memoir-allegations-exclusive-11829727″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a> in a statement ahead of <em>You Thought You Knew</em>‘s release that read: “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”</p>
<p id=”par-14_116″>Spears responded to the allegations as well in a lengthy post on <a href=”https://x.com/britneyspears/status/1978621279474229703″>X.com</a>, writing in part: “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting … Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here. I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”</p>
