‘America’s Sweethearts’- Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders Return

'America's Sweethearts' Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders Return for Season 2

Get ready to shake what your mama gave ya… the world’s most famous cheerleaders are back for another season of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” on Netflix!

And fans won’t have long to wait to catch up all their favorite veterans and hopefuls as they fight for a spot on the elite team.

In a press release, Netflix describes season two like this: “Season 2 picks up ahead of the final round of auditions for the 2024–2025 squad, then follows those who get selected through training camp, heartbreaking cuts, the official team announcement, and into the NFL season. This season, just 23 of 36 veterans return to try and make the lineup, which means there will be a larger rookie class than in the previous five years. Finglass and Trammell whittled down the nearly 500 new submissions they received, and now they’ll assess the best of the best in person to see who has what it takes to cheer in the 64th class of cheerleaders.”

Netflix just released a new trailer that shows that season two may just be even more jam-packed with drama than season one – if that’s possible.

Season Two Features Hopefuls Who’ve Been Cut Before

The new season features at least one hopeful who got cut in previous tryouts and returns to try again.

It also features at least one legacy candidate whose mom was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader decades ago.

“We’re excited that there’s a lot of new girls,” one returning cheerleader says. “Every year, the talent just gets better and better and better.”

Another prospective squad member adds: “We’ve always been told, there’s a 100 more girls who would love to do this job.”

And the girls trying out aren’t the only ones feeling the tension.

Kelli Finglass, DCC director, became notorious for her unwavering standards in season one. But nevertheless, she isn’t immune to the pressure and the drama.

In the trailer, Finglass says, “The pressure doesn’t go away, we just cut a good one.” And when choreographer Judy Trammel says, “It’s hard when you have to put your heart aside,” a teary-eyed Finglass responds: “Yeah, but at what cost?”

‘America’s Sweethearts’ Exposes the True Cost of Being a DCC

The Netflix series has given viewers an unfiltered look at just exactly what it takes to become- and remain- a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.

In the trailer, a prospective squad member says, “we all do crazy things to be here.”

“I have three jobs, four if you count DCC,” says another. Season one revealed that the cheerleaders only earn about $15-$20 an hour for practices and approximately $500 per game.

The first season also revealed the physical cost. Few cheerleaders are able to perform more than five seasons. The cheerleaders’ famous “jump splits” move often causes hip issues that require corrective surgery when their tenure is up.

Season two promises to be just as revealing.

According to Netflix, the new season will “continue giving viewers unfiltered access into this iconic team and franchise.” The new episodes will chronicle “the 2024-25 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad from start to finish — kicking off at auditions and training camp and continuing all the way through the NFL season.”

How to Watch ‘America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’

“America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” is part of a growing Dallas Cowboys presence on Netflix. “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys” about the history of the iconic NFL team and its owner Jerry Jones is expected to debut later this summer.

But you won’t have to wait as long for the sweethearts! Season 2 of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” premieres Wednesday, June 18 on Netflix.
