Amy Schumer’s new movie Kinda Pregnant has been panned by critics and viewers – despite soaring to the number one spot on the chart of UK films.

Kinda Pregnant is Netflix’s latest rom-com offering that has everyone talking for all the wrong reasons.

The film stars Schumer, 43, as Lainy, a woman who decides to pretend she’s pregnant when her plans to settle down and start a family fall apart.

Of course, after whacking on the fake bump and lying to everyone around her, she ends up meeting her dream guy.

The film was dismally reviewed with a 17% ranking on Rotten Tomatoes with critics calling it ‘unfunny’ and a painful watch.

One audience reviewer on the film reviewing site, Whitney C, even commented the film was ‘Worse than childbirth’.

Fans who have viewed the film have continued to tear it apart online.

‘Kinda pregnant is the worst film I’ve ever watched in my entire life,’ said FelicityRepudia on X.

‘#kindapregnant is a kinda disappointing Netflix film, because of unfunny dialogues and characterization. Amy Schumer’s presence is kinda failing, I guess. This movie is not a good start this month of love,’ said mar_arancon.

‘I don’t think you need me to tell you that Kinda Pregnant is terrible. It’s the same old Amy Schumer shtick, an unfunny movie that goes about how you would expect. The acting is fine enough from the supporting cast, but that’s nowhere near enough to save this movie,’ added JeromeM94Movies.

Other critics suggested that the film was out-of-touch and didn’t sensitively handle the topic.

‘Insensitively handling its material and absolutely wasting its ensemble, #KindaPregnant is kinda the worst film of 2025 thus far,’ said ratedPDG.

Some viewers and critics found the film light and enjoyable.

‘If we bought Some Like it Hot and Mrs Doubtfire, I see no reason to quibble with the set-up of Kinda Pregnant, a funny and often perceptive satire on motherhood, both real and pretend,’ said Jake Coyle for Associated Press.

Kinda Pregnant is the fourth film Schumer has led. She starred in the film Trainwreck in 2015 which earned an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

She then went on to star in Snatched in 2017 with Goldie Hawn which earned 36% and I Feel Pretty in 2018, which earned just 35%.

In 2024 the star revealed that her ‘puffy face’ was due to her diagnosis with Cushing’s syndrome. She pointed out while on Jessica Yellin’s News Not Noise Substack that her diagnosis was ‘a good example of the fact that we never know what is going on with someone.’

She suggested that perhaps everyone could ‘be a little kinder to each other and ourselves’.
