
Having already paid tribute to his former colleague Diane Keaton following her tragic death â which prompted an outpouring of tributes from fellow Hollywood stars and other famous figures â actor and musician Andy Garcia has now praised her again. Describing Keaton as a âunicorn,â he revealed why she will be such a big miss to everyone that knew and what made her so special as a person.

Speaking to E! News at the Critics Choice Association’s 5th Annual Celebration of Latino Cinema and Television, Garcia was asked about his relationship with KEaton and whether he had anything else to say after her death.Â
He replied by saying that the 69-year-old was honored that he got to âwork opposite her many timesâ he said and then added.âThat was a great blessing.â The pair had previously collaborated with each other on âGodfather IIIâ and the âBook Clubâ franchise, with the most recent joint venture being the 2023 film âBook Club: The Next Chapter.â
When asked about favourite moments, he replied that he had âso many, you know, so many.â Garcia then recalled the first time they met and how he had taken some candid photographs of her when the pair were working in Sicily together. The actor subsequently posted them on Instagram.
âI had them in an old album there,â he explained. âMy wife said, âLook at these images that you took of Diane.ââ
He continued, âShe’s a unicorn. She’s a unique, unique spirit. It’s undefinable. She was an American original.â

Since news of her passing on October 11 at the age of 79 broke, other celebrities have rushed to pay tribute to Keaton, underscoring her popularity and kind-hearted nature.
Her on-screen son-in-law George Newbern took to social media to pay his respects, while model and actor Minnie Driver was also quick to post a touching message about her friend. â[She was] the most generous â gave me advice, read scripts for opinion, told me to toughen up,â Driver said., âSo beloved by so many. Iconic artist. How lucky we were to have all been here at the same time.â
âSaturday Night Live!â also paid tribute to Keaton, honoring her in the episode.
