Ashley Tisdale is opening up about how she and her husband, Christopher French, maintain a successful marriage. According to Tisdale, a big part of making their union work is their ability to go with the flow.
“No matter what in life, things change,” the âHigh School Musicalâ star shared with People. “I think the biggest thing is to always just try to stay on the same page throughout that.”Â
Tisdale also explained that she and French, a composer, have prioritized the importance of communicating with one another. “Communication is key on everything,â she said. âThat’s a big one for us.â
Tisdale and French Waited to Start Their Family
The pair tied the knot in 2014 after dating for eight months, but they certainly were not rushing things. Tisdale and French spent nearly 6 years together in marital bliss before welcoming their first child together.Â
In March of 2021, Jupiter Iris was born, and in September of 2024 the couple welcomed their second daughter, Emerson Clover. While Tisdale and French were over the moon with the birth of their children, the time theyâd spent beforehand was valuable.Â
“We definitely had a really good foundation of years to just learn about each other before having kids,â Tisdale explained, adding, âwhich I think is so important because just kids change everything.â
While waiting to start a family was the right choice for Tisdale and French, the âPhineas and Ferbâ voice actor noted that it might not work for everyone. “But then there’s some people I know that literally get married and have kids, and they’re really great, too,â she said.
Love at First Sight
According to Tisdale, both she and French were immediately smitten when they first met in 2012. Tisdale felt that her previous relationship experience was helpful in understanding what she was looking for.
âI think because of knowing what I wanted, I wouldn’t have gone into a relationship if it wasn’t what I wanted,â she told Ryan Seacrest in a 2013 interview.
She went on to describe feeling an instant connection with French, and apparently it was mutual. âI think from the moment that him and I met, I just knew it,â Tisdale shared. âI was like, ‘Ok this is the guy,’ and he knew the same thing. It doesn’t get any better. I just can’t explain it.”
