Key info about the Assassin’s Creed 4 remake just won’t stop leaking, as Ubisoft reportedly cancels yet another unannounced project.
Ubisoft will be formally showing off its Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake later today, but its existence has been an open secret for years even before the initial teaser from last month.
So much of it has leaked since the 2023 report that Ubisoft is outright advertising the remake – dubbed Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced – as ‘gaming’s worst kept secret.’
And the leaks keep on coming, as pricing details and a collector’s edition of the remake have popped up mere hours before the reveal showcase, which is scheduled for 5pm BST.
A listing for the Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced collector’s edition is already live on Amazon’s French website. It includes physical goodies like a statue of protagonist Edward Kenway and in-game extras like a costume.
Amazon did have it priced at €200 (about £174), although it has since removed that detail, but not the listing itself, while marking the collector’s edition as ‘unavailable for purchase’.

Not that it matters, since the pricing has been corroborated by reliable leaker billbil-kun, who also shared a UK price of £174.99. Additionally, they claim the standard edition will cost just £49.99.
This makes it cheaper than the last mainline game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is £69.99 on consoles and £59.99 on PC.
Lastly, billbil-kun has said the game launches on July 9, which is a smart time to do so, as that’s an otherwise very quiet week in terms of new releases.
Black Flag Resynced is not the only Assassin’s Creed remake Ubisoft is rumoured to be planning, with at least one more reportedly in development. Although the first game arguably needs a remake more, we’d put money on Ubisoft prioritising the far more popular Assassin’s Creed 2.
One thing Ubisoft isn’t working on, though, is its Alterra project, which was first reported on in late 2024, and described as an Animal Crossing/Minecraft-esque social sim.
According to Insider Gaming, the project has been scrapped after three years of development, although there’s fortunately no sign of layoffs. Even so, Alterra is but the latest victim of Ubisoft cancellations.
Six other games were abandoned earlier this year, with the most noteworthy being the highly anticipated remake of Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time.
There will also be an ID@Xbox showcase happening right after the Assassin’s Creed one at 6pm BST, although as far as anyone knows that’s just a coincidence and it will, as usual, focus solely on indie games.
