<p id=”par-1_50″><em>Bad Sisters</em> is rubbing off on Eva Birthistle. No, the <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/actors/”>actor</a> who plays Ursula on the <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/bad-sisters-star-sharon-horgan-wanted-season-2-happen-fairy-tale-season-1.html/”>Apple TV+ original series</a> isn’t conspiring to kill her brother-in-law. After taking a cold swim in the Irish Sea multiple times on the show, she’s made her own version at home in London, England. </p>

<p id=”par-2_60″>The Garvey sisters—Ursula, Becka (Eve Hewson), Eva (Sharon Horgan), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Grace (Anne-Marie Duff)—swim at Forty Foot, a popular swimming spot in Sandycove, Dublin, Ireland, multiple times on <em>Bad Sisters</em>. They fantasized about killing “The Prick” John Paul (Claes Bang) after a dip. Grace memorably jumped in before splashing around with her sisters in the season 1 finale. </p>
<p id=”par-3_72″>After multiple swims on the show, the Irish actor and writer now has a backyard version of Forty Foot. “I love Sandycove but was in genuine pain from the cold,” she told <a href=”https://www.hotpress.com/film-tv/eva-birthistle-on-bad-sisters-season-2-youll-be-on-the-edge-of-your-sofa-and-will-probably-fall-off-it-because-there-are-so-many-shocks-23061309″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Hot Press</a> with a wince.<br><br>“I really didn’t like it at the time. But now, two years on, I’m a convert and have a cold plunge pool. We’re talking around 4.5° [Celsius] in my garden in London.” (That’s 40 degrees Fahrenheit.) </p>
<p id=”par-4_38″>“Most mornings I get in and shock myself into reality,” Birthistle continued. “I only wished I’d felt that way when we were filming at the Forty Foot!” (Fun fact: <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/kate-middleton/”>Kate Middleton</a> is also a <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/kate-middleton-absolutely-loves-hobby-prince-william-thinks-crazy.html/”>fan of cold swims</a>.)</p>
<p id=”par-5_40″>“While the rest of us were fannying about going, ‘I don’t want to get wet’, Eve [Hewson] jumped straight in off the rocks,” she added. “But then again she’s from down the road in Killiney and is used to it!”</p>

<p id=”par-6_34″>While Birthistle brought a piece of <em>Bad Sisters</em> home with her in the form of a cold plunge pool, her co-star Hewson is doing the reverse: bringing a piece of herself to the show. </p>
<p id=”par-7_26″>“In real life, I only wear really crazy socks. So Becka’s combination of socks and sandals is my one little Eve–Becka thing,” the 33-year-old told <a href=”https://www.byrdie.com/eve-hewson-interview-8719290″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Byrdie</a>. </p>
<p id=”par-8_49″>It started at the beginning of filming with a suggestion from the series’ costume designer. “Costume designer Camille Benda, in our first fitting for season one, was like, you could wear, I don’t know, maybe socks with sandals. And I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’ve found my character.’” </p>
<p id=”par-9_44″>“And now what she does is at every fitting, she lays out all these different socks with all different kinds of prints on them, pictures, whatever, socks with food on them, and all these things and she’s like, ‘You’re an artist. Pick your combination!’”</p>

<p id=”par-10_31″>As for the storyline, which is well underway—episode five, titled “Boom,” began streaming on Dec. 4, 2024—Birthistle teased there are lots of twists and turns this time around the Garvey sisters. </p>
<p id=”par-11_62″>Of course, fans already know they lost one of their own, Grace, in a fatal car accident early on in season 2. But that’s not all. “You’ll be on the edge of your sofa—and will probably fall off it because there are so many shocks!” Birthistle said. “Sharon’s scripts are always brilliant. But, my god, she’s outdone herself on this new series.”</p>
