The BBC has apologised for not following up and asking further questions after being made aware of allegations surrounding Scott Mills nearly a year ago.
Former Radio 2 presenter, Mills, was sacked on Monday following allegations over his ‘personal conduct’.
It has since been claimed that the DJ was questioned over ‘allegations of serious sexual offences over a teenage boy’ in 2016.
Now, The Telegraph has revealed that the broadcaster was made aware of allegations surrounding alleged misconduct in May 2025.
Metro understands this is a separate matter.
The publication claims a former BBC presenter got in touch to say she had received information about alleged ‘inappropriate communications’ involving Mills. She asked the BBC if the organisation was ‘ever aware of or involved in any related matters’.
In a statement to Metro, the BBC said: ‘We received a press query in 2025 which included limited information. This should have been followed up and we should have asked further questions.
‘We apologise for this and will look into why this did not happen.
‘More broadly, we would always urge anyone who has concerns or information to raise it with us.’
Anna Brees, the presenter who made the corporation aware of allegations last year said: ‘Someone who knew I used to work for the BBC volunteered some information about Scott Mills messaging someone inappropriately.’
Metro has contacted Scott Mills’ representatives for comment.
