WWE superstar Becky Lynch has alleged she was warned about the behaviour of a top male wrestler early in her career.
The former world champion, who is married to fellow Monday Night Raw star Seth Rollins, signed with the company in 2013 and spent two years on the NXT brand before being called up to the ‘main roster’.
During her time on the developmental show, Lynch has claimed she was told to be careful around one male member of the main roster.
‘At the time it was also, “Stay away from the boys. Don’t go near the boys,”‘ she said on Bert Kreischer’s podcast Something’s Burning: ‘I’m not going to name names but there was a guy on the main roster who was like “be careful.”‘
Recounting the warning, she recalling being told: ‘”Be careful, because one, he’ll try to sleep with you. If he sleeps with you, then he’ll blacklist you.
‘”And then if he tries to sleep with you and you don’t sleep with him, he’ll also blacklist you.” So there was this line you had to walk, this tight rope.’
The host, who is a fan of wrestling, asked if he would know the unnamed star in question, and the 38-year-old Irish star insisted he would definitely have heard of them.
She revealed that the wrestler got her phone number, and she wasn’t sure how to navigate the situation.
‘At one point he got my number and I remember being like, like how do you walk this line,’ she explained.
‘So there was always this thing of like, if you get into a relationship and things go south, they’re not going to fire the guy, they’re always going to fire the girl.’
Lynch remained with WWE, going onto become one of the company’s most popular superstars, and a driving force behind breaking down barriers for women in the industry.
Along with Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, she was involved in the first ever women’s main event of WrestleMania back in 2019, when she won both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.
She met her husband Rollins – with whom she has daughter Roux, who turns five next month – through wrestling, with both of them remaining at the top of the card with a real passion for the industry.
Rollins is currently out of action with a shoulder industry which forced him to relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship currently held by rival CM Punk.
Meanwhile, Lynch will be part of this weekend’s Survivor Series event on Saturday, where she will be part of the women’s WarGames match alongside a stacked lineup of major stars.
She’ll team with Lash Legend, Nia Jax and the Kabuki Warriors pairing of Asuka and Kairi Sane, as they take on Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair and AJ Lee.
