“That ’70s Show” alum Ashton Kutcher made a name for himself playing good-looking, comedic roles in the early 2000s. He largely stepped away from acting, pivoting towards various business ventures after wrapping “Two and a Half Men,” but Kutcher is set to make his return to television.

Fans of the “No Strings Attached” actor can catch him in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX series, “The Beauty.”

“I think every role you get, part of it is what you look like, right?” Kutcher said while promoting the series during New York Comic Con in October, according to Daily Mail. “It’s a very big part of what you’re imbuing as the character. And so, there are roles that I’ve gotten because of the way I look, and there are roles that I haven’t gotten because of the way I look.”

He added, “Sometimes it’s frustrating,” per People.

Kutcher—who is set to star alongside Rebecca Hall, Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope—continued, “You’re trying to tell a story with pictures, and the pictures need to create a feeling for the audience.”

“The Beauty” is based on a comic book series created by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. According to the show’s synopsis, supermodels begin dying in gruesome and mysterious ways causing the FBI to get involved.

“As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying consequences.”

Ashton Kutcher Praised Ryan Murphy

Kutcher went on to praise the beloved director for allowing him to play a more “nuanced” character than he is known for.

“So often today, you only get to play your lane and nothing else, because playing anything else goes against the values that society has projected upon what people should play and shouldn’t play,” he said during the New York Comic Con panel. “We get to play these complicated, nuanced characters. It’s a delight. Playing this character is one of the great delights of my career.”

He added, “Almost every one of us has an incredibly nuanced role where, in some way, shape or form, we’re playing something that we are or we aren’t at any given time. It creates this underlying ability to embody insecurities that you may have, that you hide away and you push down, and you don’t let anyone in the world see it.”

The series is set to premiere on FX on January 21.
