Beloved ‘80s Star Shares Heartbreaking Final Farewell To Her Friend: PHOTO

Italian movie star Claudia Cardinale’s death was announced on September 23. She was 87. At the time of her passing, fans and loved ones shared their condolences, and a few days later, a former co-star and friend, Stephanie Powers, made her own tribute to her.

Powers is celebrated for her role in “Hart to Hart,” which lasted five seasons and debuted in 1979. She played the lead role of Jennifer Hart. However, she also appeared in the 1979 film, “Escape to Athena.” In the film, Powers played the role of Dottie Del Mar, and her co-star was Cardinale, who played the role of Eleana. 

Powers posted a throwback photo of herself, Cardinale, and two of their late co-stars, Roger Moore and David Niven, on Instagram. In the caption, she shared her thoughts. “Our lovely cast in Escape to Athena, our friendships endured through all these years, and now we’ve just lost Claudia who’ll be with Roger and David, and I hope I don’t join them for a long time,” she wrote. 

Fans reacted to the post with an outpouring of love and support. “We’re losing a lot of legends lately, we don’t want to lose you anytime soon either. Rest in peace to your friends,” a fan shared. “Thank you for sharing this. What a funny picture, I love it! Roger and David on a set makes me feel like a lot of fun was happening,” another person wrote. 

Other reactions include, “It is really sad when all your friends take that last travel. Rest in peace Claudia,” “You are young and going to be with us a very long time,” and “Very sad to learn of Claudia’s passing – I very much admired hr feet on the ground pragmatic approach to her career. Celebrating the Life of Claudia Cardinale

Cardinale made her debut in the 1958 film “Goha,” by Jacques Baratier, and appeared in several popular films, including “Once Upon a Time in the West,” the Oscar-winning film “8 1/2,” and “The Pink Panther.” She died in Nemours, near Paris. Her agent, Laurent Savry, announced her passing in a statement to AFP, BBC reports. “She leaves us the legacy of a free and inspired woman both as a woman and as an artiste,” Savry said. 

Cardinale had a fascinating life, but it was a compliment given to her by her late co-star Niven that stuck with her. “The best compliment I ever got was from actor David Niven while filming ‘The Pink Panther,’” she said, BBC reports. “He said: ‘Claudia, along with spaghetti, you’re Italy’s greatest invention.’”
