
Baltimore is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved comedians. Reggie Carroll, known for his fearless stand-up and national touring routines, has died at 52. Carroll was fatally shot in Southaven, Mississippi, on Wednesday, August 20, according to the Southaven Police Department.
Authorities said they responded to a call about a shooting on Burton Lane, where officers and medical personnel attempted life-saving measures before Carroll âsuccumbed to his injuries.â On Saturday, August 23, police confirmed that âone male is in custody and has been charged with the murder of Reginald Carroll,â adding, âOur thoughts [are] with the family of Mr. Carroll.â
Shooting in Mississippi Leads to Tragic Loss
Carrollâs death shocked fans and colleagues alike. The comedian was widely known across the country for his stand-up tours, viral sketches, and television appearances.
According to IMDb, he appeared on a 2000 episode of âShowtime at the Apolloâ and produced and hosted the 2023 stand-up special Knockout Kings of Comedy.
He was also performing as part of Katt Williamsâ Heaven on Earth Tour at the time of his passing, solidifying his legacy in the comedy world.

The Baltimore native often collaborated with actress and fellow comedian MoâNique. In an Instagram Stories post, the Precious star, 57, remembered Carroll as her âbrother in comedy.â
âThis is why I say treat people the best you can because you never know if youâll get a chance to see them again,â MoâNique wrote (As quoted by Deadline).
âThe last time me and my brother Reggie, girl, was together⦠thatâs what it was, an amazing time, being on tour together, being on that road together, what a time. So I have no sad tears because all of our time together was amazing.â
