Beloved Dave Coulier Shares New Cancer Diagnosis

Dave Coulier

Former “Full House” star Dave Coulier has revealed he’s battling a second cancer, less than a year after completing treatment for stage-3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

In a phone interview with the “TODAY” show on Tuesday, December 2, Coulier disclosed he was diagnosed in October with HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer.

Just over a year ago, in November 2024, Coulier publicly announced his non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis after discovering a “golf-ball-size” lump in his groin that developed quickly following an upper respiratory infection.

He underwent aggressive chemotherapy, spoke candidly about the toll it took—and ultimately shared that he was cancer-free by early 2025.

He bravely opened up about how it felt to receive the diagnosis of a new type of cancer.

“To go through chemotherapy and feel that relief of whoah, it’s gone, and then to get a test that says, well now you’ve got another kind of cancer … it is a shock to the system,” he said.

Coulier Said It Was Diffcult Getting the Diagnosis

The 66-year-old revealed the discovery was made a few months ago during a routine checkup.

“A couple of months ago, I had a PET scan, and something flared on the scan,” Coulier noted. “The doctor said, ‘We don’t know what it is, but there’s something at the base of your tongue.’”

He ended up getting a biopsy on his tongue that didn’t show any type of cancer. However, Coulier said it was gruelling.

“It was very painful. It’s like if you bit your tongue, but the pain just lasted every single day,” he added.

He ended up having another biopsy in October and that was when the cancer was found.

“They said it’s totally unrelated to my non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is a new cancer. … I said, ‘Are you kidding me?’” he said.

Since the news broke, fans have expressed their support and well wishes for Coulier.

“Sending positive healing ❤️‍🩹 vibes,” one wrote.

Another added, “SENDING LOVE HUG’S AND PRAYER’S TO YOU.”

He Urges People to Get Tested

Since Coulier’s cancer battle began, he has spoken about how important it is to get regular checkups and testing.

“The one thing that just kept presenting itself to me was to tell other people about it,” he told the “TODAY” show back in 2024.

He continued, “Talk to them about getting something as simple as pre-screening or a breast exam, mammogram, a colonoscopy or a prostate exam.”

“It’s a really simple thing to do and it can add years to your life,” he expressed.

The comedian has been very open with fans as he frequently has documented his recent health issues.

He previously shared an image with his two dogs and gushed about how they helped him while he was undergoing chemotherapy.
