Beloved ‘Goodfellas’ Actor Passes Away at 81 & Tributes Pour In

Goodfellas actor Beau Starr

Beau Starr, who is best known for his role in “Goodfellas” along with the “Halloween” franchise, has passed away at the age of 81, TMZ reports.

Starr’s younger brother, Mike Starr, told the outlet that the actor died on Friday, April 24, in Vancouver, Canada, of natural causes. He added this his brother was “loved by many who knew him,” adding that he was “very unique and special.”


Fellow ‘Goodfellas’ Actor Remembers Beau Starr

Following news of Starr’s passing, Chris Serrone, who also acted in the hit mob movie, paid tribute to the actor on Instagram.

“It is with a heavy heart Im here to inform everyone of the very sad passing of Beau Starr. @mikestarractor asked me to make the announcement. Beau enjoyed a rich a meaningful life. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, actor and NFL/CFL player. Please take a moment to help me remember a great guy. RIP. #Goodfellas #hoodlum #holloween4 #holloween5 #NYJets,” he wrote.


Tributes Pour In For Beau Starr

“Was just watching Halloween four the other night. So sad,” one person wrote.

“Sad news.Beau Starr, the no-nonsense Sheriff Ben Meeker from Halloween 4 and 5, has passed at 81. He brought real gravitas to those chaotic Haddonfield nights. RIP,” another person commented.

“I’ve just been made aware that Beau Starr who played Sheriff Meeker in Halloween 4 and 5 passed away on April 24th this year. Rest in peace, you’ll never be forgotten,” another fan stated.

Beau Starr’s Career

Starr began his career as an athlete, having signed with the New York Jets practice squad after his college football career at Hofstra. He remained with the team from 1966 to 1968 before moving to the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

He then transitioned to acting, where he made his debut in the sketch comedy show Bizarre. From there, he appeared in episodes of “TJ Hooker, Cagney & Lacey, Three’s Company, Knight Rider, Remington Steele, The A-Team, MacGyver, The Fall Guy, Moonlighting, Night Court, Matlock, Murder She Wrote, Wings, NYPD Blue, The Dead Zone, Psych, and more.

As for his movie roles, he made his film debut in the 1982 movie “Hanky Panky”, which starred Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner. He also played Sheriff Ben Meeker in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), along with also appearing in Goodfellas (1990), Cinderella Man (2005), and more.
