‘Marty Supreme’ Red Carpet Highlights
Chalamet Promotes Film With Awkward Zoom Call
On November 15, Chalamet posted an 18-minute-long video to his Instagram to promote the film, and it featured one of his best roles yet.
In the video, Chalamet, sporting a yellow tank top and a buzz cut, joins a Zoom call full of “marketing executives” who will be leading the promo ahead of the filmâs release on December 25. Throughout the “call,” Chalamet makes ridiculous suggestions for the filmâs marketing. The campaign, which is a parody of a real marketing meeting, has Chalamet fully committed to the part of âsnobbish actor with no regard for his coworkers.”
Inside Josh Safdie’s Ping-Pong Dramady
The filmâs official description states that it follows “Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects,” who endures immense hardship “in pursuit of greatness.”
The A24 sports film stars Chalamet along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin O’Leary, Odessa Aâzion, Abel Ferrara, Tyler Okonma, and Fran Drescher.
It has received widespread critical acclaim, with many calling it a “career-defining performance” for Chalamet, who earned his first best actor nomination for 2017âs âCall Me By Your Nameâ at 22, becoming the third-youngest nominee ever in that category.
It is produced and directed by Josh Safdie, who co-wrote the script with Ronald Bronstein, loosely inspired by American table tennis player Marty Reisman. Josh has directed other indie films such as, “Uncut Gems” starring Adam Sandler and “Good Time” starring Robert Pattinson. Josh is best known for directing and writing his films with his brother, Benny Safdie, as the Safdie Brothers. But in 2024, Benny announced that he was breaking off from their partnership and going solo.
While rumors suggested that this decision was due to the brothers going through a falling out, Benny insisted that his split with Josh was amicable. “Itâs a natural progression of what we each want to explore,” Benny said in an interview with Variety. “I will direct on my own, and I will explore things that I want to explore. I want that freedom right now in my life.”
This is Josh’s first solo project since 2008’s “The Pleasure of Being Robbed.”
“Marty Supreme” premiered at the 2025 New York Film Festival on October 6, 2025, and it will be released in theaters on December 25, 2025.
