Bianca Censori was ‘pushed to the limit’ and contemplated leaving Kanye West a year ago.
The Australian architect, 31, married the Gold Digger rapper, 48, in 2022, after they first met when she was working for his fashion brand, Yeezy.
At the time their relationship began he was in the process of divorcing from ex-wife Kim Kardashian, 45, however the new couple quickly generated headlines for other reasons – namely the fact that Bianca would often wear very little clothes on their outings.
Around the same time Kanye also faced significant criticism for a series of antisemitic remarks and actions, which included selling t-shirts printed with swastikas, releasing a song called Heil Hitler and even going so far as to call himself a ‘Nazi’.
In recent months he’s gone on to express ‘profound remorse’ and attributed his behaviour to his bipolar disorder, also explaining he suffered ‘manic episodes’ and ‘hit rock bottom’.
Throughout the past few years there’s been ongoing rumours that Bianca had enough of Kanye’s outbursts and was ready to end their marriage.
A source close to the couple has now seemingly confirmed these reports, sharing that Bianca was on the verge of divorcing him a year ago before an act of ‘extreme bravery’ brought them from the brink.
When on the verge of leaving Kanye, Bianca reportedly confided to friends that she could no longer cope with his behaviour, but issued an ultimatum that saw them attend a series of intense joint counselling sessions.
After flying to an exclusive rehabilitation clinic together in Spain, Kanye is said to have vowed to fix his behaviour to save their three-year marriage.
‘This time last year they were headed for divorce,’ a close friend of Bianca told The Sun.
‘In an act of extreme bravery, Bianca agreed to give her husband one more chance.
‘His self-destructive behaviour, his manic mind packed with creative ideas, complicated thoughts and a unique outlook on the world have made it near impossible.’
They continued: ‘But she has been the driving force for Kanye to seek help after meltdowns, and she wants to stick by him despite all the moments of stress, upset and near splits.
‘Of course, family members are concerned, and worried that he could still ruin her life and wreck her career chances, but she has been inspired to make it work by a sense of partnership, pure friendship and passionate desire.
‘She is stubborn and intent on standing her ground.’
A year ago, Kanye went on a social media tirade in which he bragged about his wife’s controversial naked Grammys look, praised Hitler and called on US President Donald Trump to free the now-convicted Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs from jail.
Throwing her support behind Bianca, her friend said she was ‘far more mentally strong than people imagine’, adding she’d ‘lived through some of Kanye’s darkest episodes’, but had also ‘dug her heels in’ when it came to making him seek help for his mental health issues.
They went on to share Bianca felt ‘pushed to the limit’ and was ‘exhausted’ and ‘losing hope things would ever stabilise’.
‘It wasn’t that she didn’t love Kanye, but Bianca felt that the joy that she once felt was missing from her life – and she was dealing with her own issues on top of his problems,’ they explained.
In April 2024, Kanye released a song named after his wife, in which he suggested Bianca had left him after ‘trying to get me committed’.
Although her friend said that time appeared to signify the end of their marriage, Bianca decided to give it one more chance and suggest they attend The Balance Rehab Clinic, a VIP exclusive wellness centre in Majorca, where she organised counselling to physical and mental health exams.
After her husband agreed to take part, she reportedly felt ‘confident’ in his ability to ‘stand by her needs’, with the couple then able to ‘talk over their issues’.
Kanye was then said to have a ‘weight lifted from him’ and has since taken a ‘stabilising course correction’ at a rehab based in Switzerland.
Meanwhile an old friend of Kanye also confirmed Bianca was ‘ready to get the hell away from him’.
Also speaking to the Sun, music mogul George Daniels said the rapper was now ‘cleaned up’ and seemed ‘genuine’ about addressing his health issues.
In January – after he took out a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal to apologise for his past behaviour – Kanye spoke about suffering a ‘deep depressive episode’ after a ‘rock bottom’ manic episode last year.
‘Toward the end of my four-month-long manic episode, my medication was changed. In that shift, the antipsychotic drug took me into a really deep depressive episode,’ he told Vanity Fair.
‘My wife recognised that, and we sought out what’s been effective and stabilising course correction in my regime from a rehab facility in Switzerland.’
He went on to say that his apology was not about ‘reviving commerciality’ and instead because he was experiencing feelings of remorse that had been weighing ‘heavy on his heart and spirit’.
‘I owe a huge apology once again for everything that I said that hurt the Jewish and Black communities in particular. All of it went too far. I look at wreckage of my episode and realise that this isn’t who I am,’ he continued.
Kanye then said his illness saw him exhibit ‘poor judgment and reckless behaviour that oftentimes feels like an out-of-body experience’.
He concluded by sharing he was ‘deeply mortified by my actions in that state’, and was now ‘committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change’.
