Fans of Big Brother have registered their shock at the announcement that the ITV2 competition will air a ‘game-changing’ twist next week.

Last night’s episode saw Cameron B become the fourth contestant to depart the Big Brother house.

He follows in the footsteps of Emily Hewertson, who was booted out after only a few hours in the house, and Gani Khan, who was evicted last Friday.

Then, earlier this week, controversial housemate George Gilbert was axed following an incident in the house involving ‘inappropriate behaviour and language.’

As the dust settled on last night’s eviction, hosts Will Best and AJ Odudu announced that two ‘late arrivals’ will be entering the house.

The two latecomers should already be familiar to audiences though, as they’re two former housemates, given a second shot at the £100,000 prize.

As they shared the shocking news last night, Will began: ‘Now it’s finally time to reveal next week’s game-changing twist.’

‘Next Friday, two more late arrivals will go into the Big Brother house, and they’re not just any late arrivals,’ continued AJ.

Will clarified: ‘Two former housemates who may have gone too soon will be going back through those doors.’

On spin-off show Big Brother: Late and Live, it was then revealed that a ‘fake’ eviction will be staged next Friday – after which the evictee will move into a secret house with two former housemates.

All three will then re-enter the Big Brother house at a later date.

But who’s coming home?

Registering their shock on social media, fans of the ITV2 reality competition began running through all the potential scenarios as to who might return.

And many leapt to the assumption that it would be Emily who would be returning, after being voted out before she’d even had a chance to unpack her bags.

‘Knew the second Emily didn’t have an exit interview that she would be going back in,’ said LisaMc93X on X.

‘I said it as soon as she left,’ agreed Emergency-Search286.

‘Are u joking big brother if u put Emily back in that house its over,’ said chloelarkinn.

She may not have been in the house for long, but Emily quickly became one of the series’ most talked-about contestants, due to her outspoken Conservative views – later telling The Telegraph that she was ‘booted offfor being a Tory.’

Rumours of Emily’s return track with the assumption that the two former housemates rejoining will be the first two eliminated from this series – Emily and Pizza Hut supervisor Gani.

‘If it is Emily & Gani that goes against everything big brother should be & I might switch off,’ said andrewmcb – joining a host of voices threatening to ‘switch off’ should the show bring back its most recently eliminated faces.

However, it’s more likely that those returning will be contestants from previous series.

And, as fans speculated who from an earlier line-up might return, a firm favourite soon emerged.

‘Farida hasn’t been on TikTok for 2 weeks. Oh, don’t get me excited,’ wrote X user itsbbplus, in reference to 2023 contestant Farida Khalifa – who was the first housemate to be eliminated that year.

‘The British public deserve round 2,’ said thrawnschimera.

‘The idea of Farida making it to the Big Brother finale is something I want to see,’ agreed Omages887.

‘Come on Big Brother, let Farida back in,’ begged liamandrews.

‘The fact that godly Farida may be reentering the Big Brother house,’ said dorinadeadly.

Farida became the first housemate to leave the house in 2023 after being compared to reality TV villain Nasty Nick, who broke the rules by attempting to influence nominations.

Asked if she too compared herself to Nick, she replied: ’Yeah! Yeah. You have to be smart.

‘People might say I was all “Me, me, me.” Well, absolutely, why shouldn’t I?’

Big Brother airs from Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2.
