After celebrating multiple runs on âSurvivorâ and âThe Amazing Race,â Rob âBoston Robâ Mariano may be preparing to complete the CBS reality competition series trifecta with an appearance on âBig Brotherâ after being challenged to compete on the show by former champion Derrick Levasseur.
Former âBig Brotherâ Champs Wants to Go Head-to-Head with Boston Rob
The proposition came during the August 21 live eviction episode of âBig Brother 27,â with Levasseur suggesting that Mariano join in on a hypothetical âSurvivorâ vs. âBig Brotherâ season of the show. Levasseur confirmed the seriousness of his challenge to the former âSurvivorâ champ, telling longtime âBig Brotherâ host Julie Chen Moonves that he would love to participate in the ultimate CBS reality series showdown.Â
âIf [Boston Rob agrees,] maybe Iâll come back. âBig Brother vs. Survivor,ââ proposed Levasseur.
Levasseurâs âSurvivorâ vs. âBig Brotherâ pitch comes just weeks after CBS confirmed that the forthcoming season of âThe Amazing Raceâ will feature a cast composed entirely of former âBig Brotherâ cast members and their loved ones.
Despite the suggestion being met with cheers from fans in the audience, Mariano, who similarly joined the live broadcast as a special guest, told Moonves that heâs not sure he could handle the lengthy house-bound competition.
Mariano Side-Steps Challenge, Citing Lengthy Filming and âLunaticâ Housemates
âIâll tell you what, Julie. I think you got a shelter over your head, weâre eating. However, all summer with these lunatics, I donât know,â said Mariano.
While not a firm ânoâ from the âSurvivor: Redemption Islandâ champ, the chances of seeing Boston Rob on a future all-stars season of âBig Brotherâ are slim. After recent appearances on the casts of other reality series like âThe Traitorsâ and âDeal of No Deal Island,â Mariano has reported his interest in retiring from the circuit.
Marianoâs prospective participation is even less likely given the extensive three-month time commitment that comes along with playing a season of âBig Brother,â nearly three times longer than it takes to film the average âSurvivorâ season.
That being said, it remains possible that Mariano might reconsider the offer if an abbreviated format, similar to the month-long one used on âCelebrity Big Brother,â was adopted. The star was even reportedly scouted to take part in the third season of the all-celebrity spin-off late last year.
Boston Rob wouldnât be the first âSurvivorâ player to make the switch to the âBig Brotherâ franchise, with former series stars like Hayden Moss (âSurvivor: South Pacificâ) and Cirie Fields (âSurvivor 50â) having competed on âBig Brotherâ seasons 12 and 25, respectively.
While fans might not see Boston Rob competing on âBig Brotherâ anytime soon, the âSurvivorâ legend is rumored to be appearing as a special guest on a new episode of the âBig Brother: Unlockedâ after show tonight, Friday, August 22, at 8:00pm ET.
With Levasseur acting as one of the showâs hosts, its possible that the duo will revisit the proposition in the forthcoming episode.
