Billie Lourd has responded to her uncle Todd Fisher’s claims that he wasn’t invited to Carrie Fisher’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday.
It was confirmed in April that Princess Leia actress Carrie will be posthumously honoured with a star on the famous LA strip on May 4 – the date adopted by Star Wars fans as a celebration of the beloved franchise, hence the saying: ‘May the fourth be with you.’
American Horror Story star Billie, 30, is Carrie’s only child and this week pushed back against 65-year-old director Todd’s claims he was left in the dark.
On Wednesday, Billie’s uncle Todd claimed he’d been ‘snubbed’ from his late sister’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony and added that he’s ‘heartbroken’ he won’t be there to see his late sister’s star being unveiled.
However, in a statement given to Metro.co.uk, Billie disputed her uncle’s story and insisted Todd ‘knows why’ he was left off the invite list.
Mum-of-two Billie said: ‘I have seen the postings and press release issued by my mother’s brother and sister.

‘I apologize to anyone reading this for feeling the need to defend myself publicly from these family members.’
She added: ‘But unfortunately, because they publicly attacked me, I have to publicly respond.
‘The truth is I did not invite them to this ceremony. They know why. Days after my mum died, her brother and her sister chose to process their grief publicly and capitalize on my mother’s death, by doing multiple interviews and selling individual books for a lot of money, with my mum and my grandmother’s deaths as the subject.’
Billie went on: ‘I found out they had done this through the press. They never consulted me or considered how this would affect our relationship.
‘The truth of my mum’s very complicated relationship with her family is only known by me and those who were actually close to her.

‘Though I recognize they have every right to do whatever they choose, their actions were very hurtful to me at the most difficult time in my life.
‘I chose to and still choose to deal with her loss in a much different way.’
Directly addressing Todd’s turn of events, she added: ‘The press release Todd Fisher gave to TMZ and the posting Joely Fisher placed on Instagram, once again confirms that my instincts were right.
‘To be clear – there is no feud. We have no relationship. This was a conscious decision on my part to break a cycle with a way of life I want no part of for myself or my children.’
Billie concluded: ‘The people who knew and loved my mum at Disney and Lucasfilm have made this star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to honour her legacy possible.
‘This moment is about Carrie Fisher and all that she accomplished and what she meant to the world. I’m going to focus on that. May the 4th be with you.’
A day earlier, Todd insisted he was the one who ‘got the ball rolling’ on Carrie’s Walk of Fame star and accused their family of ‘shutting him out’ of the celebration.

Speaking about his sister, who died aged 60 in 2016, Todd told TMZ: ‘It’s heartbreaking and shocking to me that I was intentionally omitted from attending this important legacy event for my sister, Carrie.’
He added: ‘[It’s] extremely hurtful and distressing as I was always a big part of everything my sister and mother did historically over their lifetimes.’
