Body Language Expert ID’s Prince Louis’ Wordless and Very ‘Telling’ Announcement on the Balcony at Trooping the Colour Amid Kate Middleton’s Return

Leave it to Prince Louis to do something memorable on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour. It’s practically tradition at this point, as the 6-year-old has adorably stolen the show on the balcony multiple times now. While Prince William and Kate Middleton’s youngest child didn’t go viral for silly faces this time around, a yawn from Louis—that quickly turned into dancing—on the balcony signaled to a body language expert the Wales family is “tension and stress-free.”

On June 15, 2024, the Princess of Wales returned to the spotlight for the first time since being diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer. Yes, it was a big moment for Kate and the royal family, but that didn’t stop Louis from being himself.

He exhibited his “more playful side” at King Charles III’s annual birthday parade, body language expert Judi James told <a href=”” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Sun. In doing so, he also made a “telling,” non-verbal “‘announcement’” about the Wales family amid Kate’s ongoing cancer treatment.

“Louis probably performed what should be one of the most telling ‘announcement’ messages of the family, though,” James said. “Standing in front of his mother and beside his sister, he informed a concerned nation that they are a tension and stress-free group.”

“Louis posed with his hands behind his back in the classic, ‘best behaviour’ stance of Prince Philip, his great-grandad. But like Philip, he couldn’t help but let his more playful side show.”

Louis’ ‘exaggerated’ yawn and dancing on the balcony said a lot

So what did Louis do without saying a word that let all those concerned know they could breathe easier? According to James, it was the combination of a yawn and dancing that did it.

“A huge, exaggerated ‘roar’ yawn was his first signal,” the expert said. “But then he began to do a little jig to the music, making Kate laugh and [Princess] Charlotte offer what looked like a telling-off.” (Louis’ sister reportedly told him to stop dancing on the balcony.)

It might’ve been a small, seemingly insignificant, albeit sweet moment at Trooping the Colour, but it proved to be very meaningful. “If Louis is feeling happy and comfortable enough to be his usual playful self, then we can probably also relax and enjoy these first glimpses of Kate,” James said.

Before stepping out publicly for the first time in six months, Kate revealed her plans to attend the celebration with a new photo and a health update.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer,” she said in a June 14 statement posted to <a href=”” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram alongside a photo of her leaning against a tree.

Kate also noted she’s “making good progress” with preventative chemotherapy treatment set to continue for “a few more months.” However, the mother of three also acknowledged that “there are good days and bad days” and that she’s “not out of the woods yet” despite “starting to do a little work from home.”

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty,” Kate said. “Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”
