Brandy Norwood has explained to fans that a health issue was behind her abrupt end to her concert on Saturday night.

The 46-year-old star is currently three shows into The Boy Is Mine Tour with Monica, 44, and performed at Chicago’s United Center on Saturday night.

Things appeared to be going smoothly until Brandy suddenly walked off stage, leaving Monica to continue performing solo for the rest of the gig.

Videos taken at the show saw Brandy say: ‘Give me one second y’all I gotta get my…’ before going backstage, never to be seen again.

Now, Brandy has explained her absence as she apologised to fans for their support and explained she nearly collapsed on stage.

‘To my dear fans in Chicago, thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and – most importantly – your prayers. I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago.

‘After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.’

‘I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling OK with having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical.

‘Unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production, I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts.’

She added that she is now taking ‘proper precautions’ for the remaining tour dates in her busy schedule.

‘I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism and the entire crew for their continued care and support. I went from the arena to see a doctor nearby and have taken the proper precautions to help moving forward. Your understanding, patience, and unwavering belief mean the world to me,’ she concluded.

Brandy and Monica, 44, kicked off their The Boy Is Mine Tour, named after their 1998 duet, earlier this week.

They are set to perform across 27 cities in the United States.

In 2022, the singer revealed to her fans that she was taking time to rest after suffering from ‘dehydration and low amounts of nutrition.’

This came after reports of her being hospitalised in Los Angeles started circulating.

It was speculated that she may have had a possible seizure, but this was not confirmed by her team.
