Brigitte Bardot is addressing her fans directly after a wave of online rumors about her health caused unnecessary alarm. The iconic French actress, 91, released a statement through her foundation to reassure supporters that she is recovering and to request privacy while she continues to heal.
Bardot’s Team Issues A Heartfelt Reassuring Statement
Her team said she wanted to respond to the âfalse informationâ that had circulated in recent days.
âIn response to the spread of false information in recent days, Ms Brigitte Bardot would like to remind everyone that she is currently recovering, that she would appreciate it if people would respect her privacy, and invites everyone to calm down,â the statement read, as reported by The Independent.
Her representatives added that Bardot also offered a personal message to those who have been genuinely concerned: âI send my love to you all.â
Health Concerns Sparked Panic After Reports of Hospitalization
Recent French media reports claimed Bardot had been receiving hospital treatment for three weeks in Toulon, not far from her home in Saint-Tropez.
The newspaper Var-matin reported she underwent surgery related to a âserious illness,â though the exact details were not made public.
The new concerns followed her earlier hospital visit in October, when she had what was described as a âminorâ surgical procedure.
As per Rolling Stone, Bardot also experienced respiratory issues in 2023 during a heatwave.
Her husband, Bernard dâOrmale, told Var-matin at the time that she had a âmoment of respiratory distractionâ linked to the extreme temperatures. âLike all people of a certain age, she can no longer bear the heat,â he said. âIt happens at 88 years old.â
False Death Rumors Ignite After Influencerâs Post
The latest wave of panic escalated after a social media celebrity-news account run by influencer Aniss Zitouni falsely claimed Bardot had died.
âAn icon has passed away, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy,â the post read before it was deleted, according to Mail Online.
It was not the first time false reports had targeted Bardot. Back in October, she addressed a separate viral rumor about her death.
âI donât know which imbecile launched this fake news tonight about my [death], but know that I am well and that I have no intention of taking my leave,â she wrote on X/Twitter.
A Screen Icon with a Legacy Beyond Film
Bardot rose to international stardom in the 1950s and 60s with films such as âAnd God Created Woman,â becoming one of the most recognizable cultural figures of her era.
She later pursued a singing career before retiring from entertainment in the 1970s.
She has since devoted her life to animal protection through the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, a cause she still champions from her home in Saint-Tropez.
As she continues her recovery, Bardotâs message remains heartfelt and straightforward: âI send my love to you all.â
