Four hours’ worth of footage showing Britney Spears’ arrest has been released by police.

In March the 44-year-old was pulled over in Los Angeles after ‘driving erratically at high speeds’ on a motorway.

After being stopped, she then ‘showed signs of impairment’ and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests before briefly being taken to jail.

Soon after a representative for the singer said what unfolded was a ‘completely inexcusable unfortunate incident’.

Earlier this month she pleaded guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and drugs and was sentenced to 12 months’ probation.

She was also required to pay a $571 (£423) fine as part of her sentencing deal and will see a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.

A few months on from Britney’s arrest, footage of her sobriety test and DUI arrest has been released.

In the four hours’ worth of video, Britney can be seen undergoing a sobriety test on the side of the road.

The Highway Patrol car’s dash footage, which was recorded on March 4, shows her following one officer’s finger up and down and side to side as a light shined on her face.

While the audio is muffled, another police officer can be seen at one point approaching her and appearing to say the test is finished. Not long after, the singer is handcuffed and turned around to face the vehicle.

Another clip taken on the same night also shows two officers walking Britney, who is handcuffed, to a car off camera.

The dashcam footage was filmed outside of a hospital of some sort as an ambulance can be seen docked in the background.

‘Did you guys take my phone?’ she can be heard asking, before being told it is in her purse.

When she questions whether police had moved her phone, she was told: ‘No, no, it’s still in there.’

She was questioned by police who noted they smelt the ‘distinct odour’ of alcohol on her breath
It took them 10 minutes for them to convinced her to get out of the car

Part of the footage also include clips of her car swerving, Britney being pulled over, an officer telling her he can smell alcohol and the pop star initially refusing to exit her vehicle before eventually getting out.

It also shows police saying they’ll take her to a hospital for a blood test, but Britney appearing confused and asking: ‘What’s a hospital?’

Meanwhile she’s then heard briefly sobbing in back seat and then coming back into the car after being taken to hospital.

Britney was arrested on March 4 after someone called 911 to report an erratic driver on the 101 Freeway in the Newbury Park area of Ventura County, California.

Authorities said she had alcohol and drugs in her system, but they didn’t disclose what substance or list her blood alcohol content.

Newly released police records also revealed new details from the arrest. In the DUI report, officers said that when they pulled Britney over, they ‘detected the distinct odour of an alcoholic beverage from inside’.

She also told officers she had one mimosa when she woke up a few hours earlier and allegedly said: ‘I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you.  I’m an angel.’

The report also said her eyes were ‘red and watery, and her pupils were dilated’.

After ’10 minutes of speaking’, Britney eventually followed officers’ requests to get out of her car, after which they noted her speech was ‘rapid and slurred, her gait was unsteady, and she was fidgeting with her fingers’.

She also told police that she had taken multiple prescription drugs that day — 200mg of anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer Lamictal, 40mg of antidepressant Prozac and 2.5 mg of ADHD medication Adderall.

The report also noted there was an empty wine glass in the cup holder between the front driver seat and passenger seat.

In a statement following Britney’s arrest, one of her representatives said in a statement: ‘Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.’

Referencing her sons and family, they added: ‘Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for wellbeing.’ Soon after it was revealed she’d entered rehab.

Britney shares her children, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with ex-husband Kevin Federline, who she was married to from 2004 to 2007.

During her hearing earlier this month, which Spears’ attorney attended on her behalf, she was sentenced to 12 months of probation and one day in jail, with credit for the time she spent in custody.

‘Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct,’ her lawyer, Michael Goldstein told US in a statement soon after.’

‘She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI. Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received,’ he added.

Following her public mental health struggles in 2008, Britney was placed under a court-ordered conservatorship, which was eventually terminated in 2021.

At the time her father Jamie controlled her estate – with her net worth estimated to sit around $60million (£45million). They are now estranged.
