Britney Spears has hit back at trolls who have recently commented on the cleanliness of her Californian home.
The 43-year-old singer took to Instagram on Tuesday night, reposting an image from Justin Bieber’s campaign for his surprise new album Swag II.
The black-and-white shot showed Bieber shirtless in a rustic barn, his 12-month-old son Jack Blues crawling across him in just a nappy.
Britney, who has nearly 42million followers on the platform, captioned the post: ‘Shame on those who judged my home in my pajamas!!! I’m in love with this picture!!! So so beautiful!!!’
The remark not only praised Bieber’s candid family photo but also appeared to clap back at critics who had mocked Britney’s own social media uploads, which often feature her in loungewear or in messy surroundings.
Many were also convinced they could see poo from her pet dogs in the background of some of her videos.
Bieber, 31, dropped Swag II just days earlier, a follow-up to his well-received seventh studio album.
The release quickly silenced speculation about his wellbeing and marriage, with fans rallying behind him after weeks of concern about tensions with wife Hailey.
The pared-back publicity campaign for Swag II focused heavily on intimate family photos with Hailey and baby Jack, a move that softened Bieber’s image after recent negative headlines.
The strategy worked, with the album receiving 34.6m streams on the first day of release.
Britney’s post caused fans to notice the unlikely similarity between the popstars as they are both parents who are often under scrutiny.
While Britney has come to Bieber’s defence, she has simultaneously been the subject of renewed concern from her own fans.
Reports surfaced this week claiming the Toxic hitmaker is experiencing another difficult period.
An insider told the Daily Mail that Britney is ‘having an episode right now,’ with friends and family monitoring her from a distance but not planning to intervene.
The same source painted a bleak picture of her living situation, alleging that her mansion has fallen into disarray, with dog mess on the floors and no regular cleaning staff visiting.
‘She isn’t functioning like an adult would function,’ the close source claimed.
Much of the worry stems from Britney’s own Instagram posts.
In recent weeks, she has shared topless selfies, offbeat videos, and clips showing cluttered rooms in her home.
One video last month saw her attempt an off-key rendition of Prince’s Kiss, while piles of belongings and one of her dogs appeared in the background.
In the caption, she joked about sounding better behind the camera and defended her pyjama-and-boots outfit as a quirky choice for experimenting with lighting.
In another clip, Britney explained she had been tidying up her mansion before pausing to sing.
‘Messing around with lighting and cleaning my house like no tomorrow,’ she wrote.
Just last week, she uploaded a reel in a skimpy gold minidress with a chest cutout. The outfit led to repeated wardrobe malfunctions, which Britney covered with flower emoji.
The singer’s chaotic online presence comes after her ex-husband Sam Asghari took subtle digs at her former spouse Kevin Federline.
Federline, who was married to Britney between 2004 and 2007 and shares two teenage sons with her, is preparing to release a tell-all memoir titled You Thought You Knew.
Asghari – who divorced the singer last year after their short-lived 2022 marriage – couldn’t resist shading Kevin in a TMZ interview, quipping: ‘Well, he was a professional father so he would be a great… it would be the first book that’ll tell you how to be a professional father.’
The comment was widely interpreted as a jab at Federline’s history of receiving child support from Britney, payments that stopped in November 2024 when their youngest son Jayden turned 18.
Despite the occasional barbed remark, Sam has previously spoken in a Page Six interview, kindly about his ex-wife, reflecting earlier this year on the ‘darker side of Hollywood’ and wishing Britney ‘the best’ as she navigates a new chapter in her life.
