Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming Willis has revealed what the actor actually thought of his career. Recalling the movie star’s thinking before he was diagnosed with dementia, she has explained his honest and humble opinion on what he achieved over the span of almost four decades working in Hollywood.

Emma discussed her husband’s thoughts while taking part in an interview with People at the End Well 2025 conference in Los Angeles. During the conversation, she reflected on how Bruce rarely looked back at his career and was particularly motivated by the idea of leaving behind a legacy.
“I don’t know that he ever has [reflected on his legacy],” Emma said. She also revealed that Bruce just enjoyed working as an actor and found joy in his job no matter what project he was involved in, while always remaining humble.
“I don’t think that he’s ever harped or thought long and hard about who he is, what he’s done,” she continued. “I think he’s just always enjoyed being an actor, entertaining people.”
She added, “He really loved it. It was a passion of his. That’s why I love him. He’s just always so humble. You would never know.â
How the Willis Family Has Adapted
In the same interview, Emma was asked about how the family celebrates important holidays and continues to make new memories despite Bruce’s dementia diagnosis.
“I think for us, it’s just about me being able to be there and be present with him,” she said. “I mean, our life is very simple. It always actually has been. I think that just being able to be present with him, that is the joy.”
“You have to learn and adapt and make new memories, [but still] bring in the same traditions that you had before.”
She finished her thoughts by explaining that the family just had to push forward and keep finding as much enjoyment in each other’s company as they can. She said, “Life goes on. It just goes on. Dementia is hard, but there is still joy in it. I think it’s important that we don’t paint such a negative picture around dementia. We are still laughing. There is still joy. It just looks different.â
