The entertainment industry is still mourning the loss of beloved actress Catherine O’Hara, who passed away on January 30. She was 71. At the time of her death, O’Hara was starring in the Apple TV comedy, “The Studio,” and many fans are wondering about the fate of her character, Patty Leigh, and how her exit will be addressed.

Bryan Cranston Shares ‘The Studio’ Season 2 Update

Bryan Cranston, who also stars in the series as Griffin Mill, opened up in an interview with People, published on May 19, about how the show will address O’Hara’s sudden death in Season 2.

“In the very first episode of season two, Seth [Rogen] and [co-creator] Evan [Goldberg] wrote some really lovely things about Catherine as they can only do because she was such a wonderful person beyond her talent, beyond her gregariousness and sweetness,” Cranston told the publication. “It’s a type of person that when you hear the word ‘cut,’ you wanted to stay around her anyway because she was just a lovely human being and we all still feel the loss of her.”

The interview was shared on Instagram by People, giving fans an opportunity to react. The comment section has been filled with supportive comments from people, many of whom left heart emojis as a show of solidarity.

Bryan Cranston Calls Catherine O’Hara a ‘Genius’

This is not the first time that Cranston has discussed O’Hara, with whom he has worked on multiple occasions. In April, he spoke about the lessons he learned from her in an interview with Esquire, also telling the publication that he “missed her dearly.”

“What I picked up from Catherine — from decades ago — was her ability to go all out in a comedy, and then rest and not be on,” he said. “She was not one of those who were always trying to be funny off camera. She would pace herself, and then when it was time to pick up, she’d pick up.”

Cranston praised the actress for being able to challenge the script and provide new ideas when she felt something was not working. “And so she was always on, and it gave me the encouragement to be able to then do the same thing to others,” he shared. “’Hey, what about we try this? What about that?’ And she was just a genius, really, but even a better human being.”

Catherine O’Hara’s Heartbreaking Passing

Many celebrities have shared Cranston’s sentiments about O’Hara being a brilliant person, and social media has been flooded with tributes. This includes one from her “The Studio” co-star, Seth Rogen. He posted a photo on Instagram of her smiling while she leaned against his back, and discussed who she was and what he meant to her in a touching message in the caption.

“Really don’t know what to say… I told O’Hara when I first met her I thought she was the funniest person I’d ever had the pleasure of watching on screen,” he began. “Home Alone was the movie that made me want to make movies. Getting to work with her was a true honour. She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, generous… she made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it. This is just devastating. We’re all lucky we got to live in a world with her in it.”
