Lewis Burton, who was dating Caroline Flack when she died, has spoken out about the ‘false accusations’ in the recent documentary about the presenter.
A new documentary about Flack, 40, has been released on Disney+, looking at the final 24 hours of the TV presenter’s life.
It was released on November 10, with Flack’s mother, Christine Flack’s taking part in hopes the documentary will ‘set the record straight’ on her daughter’s death.
Burton, 33, was dating Flack at the time of her death and has now spoken out, stating there are ‘false accusations’ about him in the documentary.
In a statement on Instagram, Lewis said: ‘Out of respect, I’ve chosen to remain silent. However, the false accusations and online abuse directed toward me and my family has gone too far.
‘I had hoped it would never come to this, but now I have no choice but to clarify the situation and share the truth.’
The tennis player has yet to explain what the ‘truth’ is, or how he will be sharing this information.
Lewis is not interviewed in the documentary, but it was stated by the director and producer at a media screening that Lewis was approached several times but declined to appear.
‘We contacted Lewis right from the beginning and we said “We’d love to talk to you off-record just for research purposes [to] understand your perspective on everything.”
‘We also invited him to take part in the series, on camera. He declined to take part,’ said series producer Sophie Clayton-Payne per The Mirror.
On December 12, 2019, Caroline Flack struck her boyfriend Lewis Burton with a phone while he was sleeping after discovering texts from another woman.
From there, she trashed their bedroom, threw several heavy objects across the room, grabbed a shard of broken glass, and self-harmed in front of him.
It was an alcohol-induced incident that blew open one of the most scrutinised celebrity cases of all time. When she was eventually charged with assault by beating, the case spiralled into a media storm that ultimately led to her death just two months later, on February 15, 2020, aged 40.
The documentary explores Flack’s version of events through voice notes and WhatsApp messages to friends and family that have never before been made public.
Five months after Flack’s death in July 2020, Lewis confirmed that he was in a relationship with Lottie Tomlinson, 27.
Lottie is a social media influencer and the younger sister of One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson. She was just 21 when she met Lewis, who was 28 at the time, at a party, and they began dating.
In February 2022, the couple announced that they were expecting a child together, and they now have two children together: Lucky, three, and Flossie, born in January 2025.
Caroline Flack: Search For The Truth is available to stream on Disney Plus now.
